About to take the leap!

I'm seriously considering taking the stay at home leap. My wife and I have two, age 3 and age 5. We make about equal money so my quitting work would have a big impact on our lifestyle. We can handle the costs with a bit of difficulty. The kicker- I'm unhappy at work and must take expensive graduate classes ( out of my pocket!) just to stay employed. I already do about 70% of the household stuff. So SAH makes total sense.

Would like to hear from others about how you manage money, retirement(!) and stuff. My kids are great and there is a ton of stuff to do in my area. I'm confident in my parenting skills. But worry over the financial hit. One does not quit a job in the midst of a downturn does one? My father was a product of the  depression and really cannot get his head around this..

Comments, experiences, welcome,

Thanks Todd
