So I have this friend, whose wife is CrAzY for Penguins. So when she saw that "Happy Feet" was coming out, she immediately called me because I am the only person she knows with kids, so it ended up working out great, She and my Wife and kids went to "Happy Feet" and her husband and I went to Borat. This is the first movie we have been to in quite a while, I am sure you all know that feeling, so I though I would give everyone a couple of candid thoughts about both movies,
Now I am familiar with Sasha Baron Cohen's style of humor from watching "Ali G Show" on HBO, So I thought I knew what I was getting into, my buddy however was relatively unprepared. I figured "Hey, he is on HBO and they let anything go there", Well Sasha came up with a couple of things I sure never would have thought of. Anyway, if you are not familiar with his style of comedy, I would hit YouTube and put in "Ali G" or "Borat" to get yourself ready. It is a funny movie, but in a way that makes you feel kind of dirty after you laugh, I read an article that said this is just the "Theater of Cruelty" that America with it's reality television has been asking for, but at the same time most of the people he makes fun of are racist, sexist, or just not that smart, so it is debatable on if that makes it ok.
Now my wife's review of "Happy Feet", She said that the animation was really spectacular, and that it was a lot of fun, but she could have done without the sermon at the end of the movie and that it pushed the total run time to the point where it was a little long. She said Robin Williams was great (I didn't even know he was in it) and that the kids loved it, BUT the cuteness factor of all the penguins running around for 108 minutes ran a little thin so if we didn't get it on DVD, that would be alright, I figured I will be forced to watch this at some time, with two little girls it is inevitable.
