As I read Brians notice about the Cubs, I thought that maybe we could do an outing to the Kane County Cougars....
You will not find a more family friendly atmosphere and it is a great deal cheaper. The only drawback is it is a bit of a haul for those in the city. Here is the cost run down for a group..
$8 gets you a reserved seat..and since this is the minors, the stadium is smaller and every seat is in the sun!
There is also an option for a 'picnic' 2 hours before the game for either $11 or $18 per person (no discount for kids). $11 gets you burgers and similiar fare. $18 gets you chicken sandwiches and pork chops...a step up. I did not ask what drinks it includes but I assume that it probably includes some soda type of beverage.
Saturday available dates are....
June 18 (we could all sit together)
May 14th (2 or 3 groups)
July 2nd (sit together)
July 31st (sit together) ..this is also a fireworks night so the game starts at 6 instead of in the afternoon.
BTW...did I mention parking is free?
There is also the Schaumburg Flyers..

The tickets are a bit more but it is closer and the picnic option is cheaper. I have never been there.
So..?
Re: Cubs Alternative Ideas..
First, thanks for picking up on this Dave.
We are in the early stages of selling our house and moving, so I don't really feel like being the administrator/facilitator for any events until after we move and get settled in.
Either team sounds good to me. If I had to choose, it'd be the Flyers. The closer factor and cheaper picnic are appealing to me. I'll pay a little more for tickets for a drive that will take less time.

Re: Cubs Alternative Ideas..UPDATE..
Just got off the phone with the Flyers.
$8.00 a person reserved seats together.
Picnic options range from $11 to $18 and kids meals are $7
I thought a day game would be better so I chose Sundays in June and July..
June 12th and 26th and July 24th
Parking is free.
There is also another neat option where you can rent out the complete bleacher section for $1270. You get 300 tickets and the section completely to yourself. It is available for the dates in June but not in July.
Feelings?

Re: Cubs Alternative Ideas..UPDATE..
My family is interested in this outing and would probably be able to make any of the three dates you listed.

Re: Cubs Alternative Ideas..UPDATE..
Jeez, I wonder if we could sell 300 tickets?
We are in for 5 and maybe up to 9 tickets. Either June date is good for us.

Re: Cubs Alternative Ideas..UPDATE..
Any of the three dates are okay for me and my wife and daughter. However, my daughter isn't one for sitting still, especially for the length of a ballgame. If we were to do the lawn-picnic thing, count us in.

Re: Cubs Alternative Ideas..UPDATE..
Well.....if we get the bleachers to ourselves, our children can run around with abandon. Works out to under $5 a ticket....
BTW...has Joe C. dropped off the face of the earth or has he sworn off computers and email? Or both?
The line in the sand for timing is March 25th.... I have to draw the line somewhere in time.
and since no one seems to care about which date, I pick June 26th!
