My daughter loves when I play my guitar. I don't sing well. Anyone want to start a song group ala Wiggleworms? Other guitar players, fiddle players, piano players, singers, tambourine bangers, maraca shakers or anyone with an interest wanted. We do Wiggleworms Tuesday mornings but would like to do more and not pay a couple hundred dollars.
Let me know. We are near Wrightwood park.

Re: Dads/kids song group
Greg,
My kids and I would definitely be up for this. I can play a fair amount of kid songs on the guitar and I like to belt them out as well. I don't sing well either, but the kids never seem to care. We're only a couple miles away from you.
Are you the dad we met at lunch last week?

Re: Dads/kids song group
Greg,
I don't know very many kids songs, but I sing to my daughter just about every day. I'd consider attending a sing-a-long.

BBQ joint?
That was me.
Laurie Berkner songs are good and easy to play. I don't know any kids songs. Wouldn't take much to learn them and starting a group would force me to do so. We need to come up with a list of at least 10 songs that would keep them busy for an hour or so. What do you think?

Re: Dads/kids song group
Here's some songs that work well with the 1-5ers:
Wheels on the Bus
Old MacDonald
Itsy Bitsy Spider
You are My Sunshine
Twinkle Twinkle
If All of the Raindrops . . .
ABC/Alphabet Song
Most of these have good hand motions that go along. If memory serves, these are all 2 or 3 chord songs. I've got the Old Town Wiggleworms songbook and another kiddie songbook as well. I'd be happy to loan them out. I also have a bunch of kid-sized instruments.

Re: Dads/kids song group
Good start.
Wiggleworms begins again after labor day so I'll pick up the stuff at Old Town if I don't get it from you first.
Do your kids like Laurie Berkner?
We should get together once and have at least a loose guideline set that we can try and follow depending on how the kids are doing. We have Wiggleworms Tuesdays at 9 and a gym class on Wednesday morning around 9. Eva naps at 10:30-11 for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. She's up every morning at 6AM and goes to bed at 6:30PM. So......
My daughter actually likes dancing to blues shuffles and the 80's hit Walking on Sunshine. I know it begs the question, why do I know how to play Walking on Sunshine. We all have things we are not proud of.

Jim, Could I borrow a kiddie songbook or two from you? I should learn a few for Hollis' sake.
Greg, Hollis has never heard Laurie Berkner, but my nieces and newphews like her music a lot. I'll add a DVD to my Netflix queue to sample it.
