Did you see the premier of "Up All Night" on NBC? The show is about a working mom and a dad who quits his job as a lawyer to be an at-home dad. If you missed it, here are some clips from the show: http://www.nbc.com/up-all-night/video/happy-anniversary-pass-the-sippy-cup/1327394/

How do you feel they did with the protrayl of the at-home dad, played by Will Arnett?

Unrealistic

The baby never cried so we never got to see him do anything except shop and play on the computer.  How realistic is that?  I think they blew a chance to portray a stay at home dad as we actually live it.  My wife asked what was all the stuff about the wife at work when the show is about the dad and the new baby?  Or is it not about how dads are taking care of the baby now while the mom works?  My wife and I were disappointed in the show and will not watch another episode.  They could have done so much more with the show.  So dissapointing.

Focus is on the working mom

I think the main focus on the show is the working mom and how she is trying to balance work and family. The at-home dads is actually more of minor character but it is kind of cool that it is not the focus. By not making that much of a big deal out of the at-home dad it normalizes it a bit. There are certainly some lame parts like the wife criticizing him for watching hockey or playing video games, but the dad is not a deadbeat who can't get a job; he was a former lawyer. And he pushes back when his wife criticizes him. My favorite line is when they're arguing over who should get up and get the crying baby, Christina Applegate's character says, "I was working all day" to which he replies, "What, like raising a human isn't work?" That was awesome!
