It's my understanding that you take the Metro yellow line to the King St. exit and the hotel is about 1/4 mile walk from there.
Can someone verify that?

Yes, that is correct. All convention attendees will be receiving full details on transportation and everything else for the convention early next week via email. If you have any questions, you can contact Robb and Kevin, Convention Co-Chairs, at convention@daddyshome.org.

We hope you are all excited about attending this year’s AHD convention.
The convention committee has put together this information that will help out of town travelers coming to the convention and possibly Washington DC area for the first time by air travel. First thing you need to know is that both of the airports that serve the DC are actually in Virginia, which is good because that is where the convention will be! The two main airports serving the area are Regan-National airport [DCA] located in Arlington, VA, and Dulles International airport [IAD] in far western Fairfax County. If anyone is flying in via BWI which is outside Baltimore, not DC, contact me directly.
Below is a sample itinerary from Regan-National [DCA] that would be for rush hour which has higher fees, the non rush hour fares are directly below the example. Rush hour fees apply from when the system opens to 9:30 am and then again from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm weekdays.
Metro Website: http://www.wmata.com/ - Complete info where you can plan your own trip.
Itinerary 3 Departs from:
NATIONAL AIRPORT (airport DCA) METRO STATION at 6:07pm
Board YELLOW LINE Rail towards HUNTINGTON STATION
Arrive
KING STREET METRO STATION at 6:14pm
$ 2.10 SmarTrip Fare
$ 2.35 Cash / Farecard
Non rush hour fares :
$ 1.60 SmarTrip Fare
$ 1.85 Cash / Farecard
(Only Cash & SmarTrip are accepted on Buses)
More important info on buying Farecards and Passes:
Farecard machines are in every station. Small bills are recommended as there are no change machines in stations and a maximum of $5 in change may be received from a single transaction. Change will be returned in coins. SmarTrip® card dispensers are available at all stations with Metro-operated daily parking lots. The dispensers sell SmarTrip® cards for $10, $5 for the card itself and $5 in fare value. The dispenser accepts only $1, $5, and $10 bills.
There are two kinds of farecard vending machines:
Those labeled "Farecards" sell single farecards and only accept cash.
Those labeled "Passes/Farecards" accept cash and credit cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, JCB, and Discover cards accepted) and sell single or
Those of you arriving at Dulles [IAD] here is some info for you.
The cheapest way there to take a Washington Flyer Bus that takes folks to the Falls Church Metro station for $10.00. From there you will take the Metro Orange Line to New Carrollton to the Rosslyn station and change trains to the Blue line to the Franconia Station and get off at the King St. station and walk across the street to the hotel. Use the same info above below the sample itinerary as well.
All, a cab directly from Dulles to the hotel will be between $60 and $75 and a cab directly from Regan to the hotel will be between $35 and $45.
I could not attach the timetables and train schedules for the Metro system, a good thing to have as the trains per hour vary by time of day. You can easily go to the website above and print out the .pdf files with the schedules, there are 3. You will all want to get off at the King St Metro station and walk across the street to the hotel.
The weather forecast for the time of the convention and the days just before and after are going to be sunny and in the low to mid 70’s. It is going to be gorgeous, but maybe a little cool once the sun goes down, but great weather.
