Hello fellow “Stay at Home Dads,”

My name is Kenny Troiano, and I’m a writer for MaximusTroyPublications. We are working on a book that will celebrate the love and devotion between a father and his children. A book that tackles issues fathers face when they become primary caregivers, but also, a book that shares the daily life and experiences of the “stay at home father.” We’re looking for wonderful moments to share with other would be, Stay home Dads, such as funny, interesting, touching and/or inspirational moments. The trials and tribulations fathers go through on a daily basis. We’re looking for stories that evoke the fondest of memories that will rekindle the bond between dad and his children.

This book will also address how to live with one income, leaving the job that was our identity, to take care of the kids, clean the house, wash the clothes, and make the dinner. This book will also deal with psychological issues that we face everyday, the acceptance from others, and most importantly, the acceptance of ourselves. Why dad is better than a day care center, and why fathers are truly our kids hero’s.

How about your wife’s point on view? Her story is welcome as well. The moments that might have brought you and your wife to this decision, to become a “stay at home Dad.”

This book will share wonderful stories that will open the hearts and spirits of fathers everywhere. To inspire and encourage other Dads, what we have known for years, how much fun it is to be such a big part of our kids life. A lot of fathers wonder, how tough can it be? Well here is your chance to show them.

Want to share your story? A funny, humorous, or comic moment? Want to share a touching or emotional moment? How about a moment of inspiration? Anything of interest would be much appreciated.

We will collect stories and conduct interviews for the next six months.
Please send your stories, along with your name/alias, city and state, to: maximustroypublications@yahoo.com
C/O K. Troiano, Thank you!

Hi Kenny Troiano,

Are you really an At Home Dad? Or are you just trying to ”buddy “in with us. You mentioned that it in your greeting but offered no supporting evidence i.e. such as kid’s ages and personal stories to support what you are looking for to make you credible; and that makes me skeptical. Also what with the quotes around the opening “Stay at Home Dads,”? That was not a good we to start off in my opinion as it implies some sort of oddity, but that is all it is, an observation. You may not use of my posted content without my expressed written consent.
If I took an erroneous attitude, sorry.

Hmm....

Let's see, you want us to write your book for you. Am I wrong? We've seen these kinds of "Hey fellow at-home dads, I'm writing a book, but I want your stories to fill it!" invites before.

I know a great book like that's been written already...what was it called? Hmmm...oh yeah!

You want the real goods, go to:
http://www.angelfire.com/zine2/athomedad/book_fathers_day.html

What would my share of the book's profits be for you having my stories in your book? Sorry, I'm not interested. Good luck with your book!

I'm with MileHi ...

Sorry, Kenny, you come across like a tool.

No way I take the time to write up my AHD stories to hand over to you for your book. If I write up my experiences, they will become my book.

PS -- the market for an SAHD book is prettty small, or else we'd all have one. Not much has changed since Libby's book, or even Peter's for that matter.

Great Idea!

I would love to write your book for you. May I suggest using the formula Peter describes in his piece on the Time article at http://www.athomedad.com

Also, feel free to use this true story of mine:

About a month after I finally forced my wife into abandoning her children for an assembly-line job at Adam & Steve"s Toy factory, my worst fears about becoming a Mr. Mom were realized. There I was, with baby poop all over my arms and shirt, out in the back yard. I had taken the little monster out there so that I could hose her down. I admit, that I thought about using my new pressure washer at first, but then I decided it might just get all gunked up. So, I opted for the hose and a standard garden spray nozzle.

As soon as the cold water hit her backside, she screamed like a banshee and tried to crawl away. So, in a move that even McGyver would be proud of, I ran in the house and dumped the dirty laundry on the floor so that I could put the basket over her and spray her from the sides. When I got back outside, she had crawled into the neighbor's yard, but I quickly rounded her up and brought her back to the deck.

And, that's when it hit me. As I picked her up, I felt a tingling sensation in my shorts. As soon as I put her under the basket, I reached down into my pants to make sure the family jewels were ok. As I reached for the handful of manhood that I am accustomed to, a cold chill went up my back.

It was just as I had been warned: My balls were shrinking and my penis was retracting. For the next several months, my nightmare dragged on: As my estrogen kept going up with babysitting chores and holding dolls by their hair at arms length, my balls got smaller and smaller and my penis got shorter and shorter. Now, here I am, as f*@ked up as a football bat. My penis has retracted all the way up into my taint, and all I have left is a clitoris and a semi-functioning vagina.

It's been a year, so I guess I am used to it all now. My mother comes over to help me when times get tough. And, I just don't tell anyone about my disappearing penis.

Anyway, I have a few other stories like this. Let me know if they paint the picture you were shooting for.

All the best,
JP

With God As My Witness!

I swear that I had no idea Mr. Troiano was into cockfighting before I wrote my disappearing penis story! http://www.maximustroypublications.com

Not to worry

Not to worry, I'm into the history and preservation of American Games, not a cockfighter. There is a difference. The history of these birds go back to the kings and queens, and they are a big part of American history. Our forefathers were lovers of gamefowl. In fact, the Gamecock was one vote shy of becoming our national bird. I work with historians as well as hollywood, and I have wrote a number of books on the subject. I do not promote the sport, but I do support their survival.

Anyways, I've recieved many good stories through email. Thank you very much. Some from this site and many from other sites. In the next six months, I will be interviewing many Home Dad clubs and groups throughout the country. Since my daughter is not in school yet, she is able to travel with me. Life is good! I have a great idea for a book and I thought it would be a good thing to include experiences from fellow Home Dads. From the stories I've recieved so far, it looks real good.

I have been a Home Dad now for 20 years, I have a 23 year old daughter in the Air Force, who just got married, A 21 year old daughter in college, and I'm starting all over with another daughter who is now 4 years old. It has been nice. I work at home as a writer and I get to stay home and raise my kids.

Well, thanks for the stories, I hope to get a lot more,
Kenny Troiano
