This is the first convention that I'm going to so I need some advice on how to pack. What is KC like at this time of year? Do I bring shorts or just long pants? Do I need a coat? What kind of shirts, short or long sleeved? Is it warm enough for sandals or only shoes? Is there a pool at the hotel so I would need a swimming suit? Anyone knowing the answers to these question feel free to chime in. Thanks!

hehe

Flip-flops and a nice sundress are a must. Don't forget your sunscreen.

seriously

Last year was quite cold. Dress is always casual.

all the above

I think KC weather is a lot like St. Louis', it can be 90 degrees in the morning and snowing later in the afternoon, or vise-versa.

Last year, I remember it

Last year, I remember it being hot - we were outside on the roof of the pub till midnight in tshirts.

I'm a native..

Being a native of KC, I'm reminded of a saying we used to hear growing up -

"If you don't like the weather in KC, wait 10 minutes, it'll change."

Not that a silly euphemism helps in packing, but suggestions would be to split the difference and pack like it will be 60. Include one outfit in case it gets to 80, and one outfit in case it gets to 40.

Pool

There is an indoor pool that is pretty cool, stainless steel if I remember right. We were without jackets on Thurs night, but then the cold front came through on our walk back to the hotel about 11pm. Next few days were dreary and around upper 40's. There was some rain and drizzle on Friday. Its the midwest, what else to say. There will be wind and unknowns....thats the fun of living here.

Sandals all the way

I live in bare feet and sandals for the most part, and that was fine for KC last year, even after it got cold.

I wore shorts and short sleeves around the hotel and switched to jeans to go out. I wear a leather flight jacket, and that with the short sleeves was fine for me. If the walk down that hill was not so long, I think I could have done shorts outside too.

uhh, yeah...

Sorry to startle you gentlemen, what I meant to say was "matching apparel"...

(my "outfits" consist of random, cheeky T-shirts & ratty cargo shorts. So packing to me is 1 long sleeve t-shirt and one short sleeve t-shirt)
