Lost A Friend and KCDADS Member

I thought others might appreciate knowing that KCDADS lost a good friend and member this week to Leukemia. Brian Dickson was a SAHD in the Northern part of Kansas City for the past 5 years and a member of KCDADS for most of that time. I spoke this afternoon with his wife, Annette, who is a physician here. She underscored the importance to their daughter Arwen, and to herself of Brian's role as a SAHD.

I want to share a few lines from Brian's obituary (which is online at www.meyersfuneralchapel.com): "... Arwen was born and Brian began the role he relished most: at-home dad. He enabled Annette's busy medical practice , and was an active, hands-on father, finding kindred spirits among KCDADS, a group of at-home dads in Kansas City."

We sometimes forget to mention the importance and lasting impact we have on each other, but Annette summed things up by mentioning that Brian was initially uncomfortable in his role as a SAHD until finding KCDADS; and, that his association with other at-home dads, helped him become comfortable and to appreciate his SAHD role as the most important in his life!

Amen to that.

Thoughts and Prayers

are definitely with Arnette and Arwen. "He enabled Annette's busy medical practice and was an active, hands-on father" -- beautiful.
