I would be opposed to Pedialyte. Pedialyte contains Splenda. On the bottle it reads Sucralose which is the natural sounding name for the chemical commercialy known as Splenda. Splenda is an organochlorine, like the defoliant/insectasides DDT and Dicofol. Sucralose's closest chemical cousin is the poison gas Phosgine. It is not made from sugar, and was never tested on, children, infants, adult women, any minority group, or the elderly.

Splenda is made by Johnson & Johnson, which is on your good list, and they are probably one of the only companies I would maybe trust to not screw over the customer. (my wife works for them)
I think I mentioned somewhere else that J&J would probably be a good company to approach, they are a very family friendly company.
Don't actually use Splenda myself, I like real sugar.

I lament that J & J makes Perialyte and a host of other things I use daily, but thoes are the breaks.
You are right however that if we approch J & J Perdialyte would be something they would want to promote.
I also lament that Kraft Mac & Cheese is owned by Phillip Morise.

Not necessarily in that order...it depends on what sort of day we're having!
Liam: best list so far...I'm still laughing!
Tim E.: cut the new guy some slack...he already told us he's dyslexic. Geeze, you brainy types...the closest I ever get to organic chemistry is children's bodily output! (hence, the first 3 things on my list...and occasionally the last depending on what it took to deal with the output...)

Ah, Liam. I might not have recognized you were the Liam I've been partying with the last two conventions by your screen name. Your list, though. Thats a bit of a give away.
Cool to see you here on the boards. If we end up in Sacramento together, I'll definitely buy you a round.
As for my corporate list...
- Costco
- Nikon
- Target
- Amazon.com
- NewEgg.com
- BHPhotoVideo.com
Also, I think we have much more to offer in the web presence than in the convention. A 100 person convention might not interest them much, but we are at the epicenter of press coverage. We should let them know that we will announce their sponsorships somehow on our website and in our promotions.

Tim E,
Below please find some of the research about Splenda that my nutritionist referred me to:

"Sweet Deception" by Joseph Mercola:
I don't post nonsense. I'm a terrible speller, I'll give you that. My reason is that I’m dyslexic. What’s the underlying cause of your sarcasm and derision?
I posted to promote thoughtful dialogue. Read the data and draw your own conclusions.

Regarding truthaboutsplenda.com. See the disclaimer at the bottom: "
"This website is part of an effort to educate consumers about the chemical artificial sweetener Splenda and is provided by The Sugar Association, which represents sugar beet and sugar cane farmers across America"
You can check the cited sources yourself at wiki, but read below for the safety of sucralose. I think you'll find that the various health organizations across the globe are a lot more reliable than an author with an agenda. The links you provided did not offer any proof of the dangers of Splenda; they simply used an implied absence of evidence to prove their point, and as we can see below, there is plenty of evidence to indicate that it's safe. Holistic nutritionists often state with certainty "facts" that fly in the face of science and research. I'm not a big fan of alternative medicine that makes claims that aren't supported by reality. However, I do generally agree that people should eat natural foods as a primary diet, and that everyone should feed their family what they choose.
"Sucralose has been accepted by several national and international food safety regulatory bodies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Joint Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives, The European Union's Scientific Committee on Food, Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada and Food Standards Australia-New Zealand (FSANZ). According to the Canadian Diabetes Association, one can consume 15 mg/kg/day of Sucralose "on a daily basis over a ... lifetime without any adverse effects".[8] For a 150 lb person, 15 mg/kg is about 1000 mg, equivalent to about 75 packets of Splenda or the sweetness of 612 gm or 2500 kcal of sugar.
“In determining the safety of sucralose, the FDA reviewed data from more than 110 studies in humans and animals. Many of the studies were designed to identify possible toxic effects including carcinogenic, reproductive and neurological effects. No such effects were found, and FDA's approval is based on the finding that sucralose is safe for human consumption.”[9] For example, McNeil Nutritional LLC studies submitted as part of its U.S. FDA Food Additive Petition 7A3987, indicated that "in the 2-year rodent bioassays...there was no evidence of carcinogenic activity for either sucralose or its hydrolysis products...."[10]
After FDA approval, a study published in the Journal of Head and Face Pain reported sucralose as a possible trigger for migraine patients.[11] Another study published in the Journal of Mutation Research linked high doses (2000 mg per kg) of sucralose to DNA damage in mice.[12]
Concerns have been raised about the effect of sucralose on the thymus, an organ that is important to the immune system. A report from NICNAS cites two studies on rats, both of which found "a significant decrease in mean thymus weight" at a certain dose.[13] The sucralose dosages which caused the thymus gland effects referenced in the NICNAS report was 3000 mg/kg bw/day for 28 days. For an 80 kg (176 lb) human, this would mean a 28-day intake of 240 grams of sucralose, which is equivalent to more than 20,000 individual Splenda packets/day for approximately one month. The dose required to provoke any immunological response was 750 mg/kg bw/day,[14] or 60 grams of sucralose per day, which is more than 5,000 Splenda packets/day (there are 11.9 mg of sucralose in a 1g retail packet of Splenda). These and other studies were considered by regulators before concluding that sucralose was safe. However, because some ingested sucralose is broken down and absorbed by the body there is concern that chronic consumption may lead to thymus shrinkage or other side-effects.
The bulk of sucralose ingested does not leave the gastrointestinal tract and is directly excreted in the feces while 11-27% of it is absorbed.[2] The amount that is absorbed from the GI tract is largely removed from the blood stream by the kidneys and excreted in the urine with 20-30% of the absorbed sucralose being metabolized.[2] Sucralose is digestible by a number of microorganisms and is broken down once released into the environment.[citation needed]
Splenda usually contains 95% dextrose (the "right-handed" isomer of glucose - see dextrorotation and chirality), which the body readily metabolizes. The safety information that many specialists and the media give to consumers is that Splenda is safe to ingest as a diabetic sugar substitute "free of problems"."

The suggestion here is that the companies hired by the makers of these chemicals are more reliable sources on a chemical's saftey than reserchers not hired from the same souce? The AMA refused to lable tobaco smoking as a health hazzard for decades due to outside pressure for them not to. No company in the whole of the US would even accept the offer to do safety resarch on cell phones - not that I think they are a problem - out of political pressure to get cell packages on the market fast. That isn't fair to the health of the consumer.
With the track record of the FDA recently I welcome alternative views and research into the addatives in our food. I woud also add please feel free to get "Sweet Deception" from the library and read it for yourself.
Out of respect for AtHomeDad and JPhilip I feel this discussion would best be served in a private fourm.
plese feel free to butt heads with me. :-)

Be Seeing You.

One of my wife's relatives is a chemist who supposedly assisted in the development of sucralose and other dietary additives/replacements- last Thanksgiving he refused to eat anything that was prepared for my diabetic FIL that contained the chemical. Not saying that proves/disproves anything- Just an observation that my wife and I made.
Now, to keep us on track-
Pampers
Johnson & Johnson
Honda
Annie's Organics

McNeil Nutritionals, LLC. produces Splenda.
They claim that 100 clinical studies have been preformed on Splenda but none are referenced or available via their website.
Abbot Nutrition is the manufacturer of Pedialyte.
As far as I am able to discern Johnson & Johnson is not the parent company of either of these companies.
An intersting observation there JonMcP.
I knew a guy - from North Carolina as it turns out :-) - who worked a chicken farm as a teen who was so revolted by the whole process he doesn't eat chicken to this day. Again, another observation but they do become telling.
Be Seeing You.
I will see if I can come up with more ideas but what about Folgers or some other coffee company like maybe Carabo (spelling?). I know there are plenty of mornings that I would not function nearly as well with Ethan if I did not have my coffee.
