It seems like podcasts are not mainstream or popular yet, so I hesitate to start a forum topic on them, but there are a few that I'm enjoying and would like to recommend. For those who might not know, and who have always wondered, podcasts are radio and video segments that are broadcast over the web using apple's technology and webstore. Most of these podcasts are absolutely free...with no catch except that you have to own a computer (and an ipod if you want to take it with you)

Some of my favorites are:

NBC Nightly News (video)- this is the actual Brian Williams news broadcast updated every night (without commercials). It's kind of like my morning newspaper that I enjoy at the Y's treadmill.

NPR's Driveway Moments- these are fan-favorite NPR segments archived into riveting collections.

This American Life- Who actually takes the time to figure out when NPR's best show is airing on the weekends? You're usually lucky to catch 20 minutes of it on your way to the grocery. Now you can listen to the episode for free whenever you want.

60 minute science- A minute's worth of scientific news. Just enough to peak your interest.

National Geographic Atmosphere and Video Shorts- These are great for kids...just interesting scenes from nature that explain strange animals or unique tribal customs.

Point of Inquiry, Skeptoid, and Truth Driven Thinking- these are the best podcasts for skeptics and secular humanists. They're all intelligent and they challenge beliefs and traditions.
