In the politically correct new millennium, G.I. Joe bears no resemblance to the original.
Paramount has confirmed that in the movie, the name G.I. Joe will become an acronym for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" — an international, coed task force charged with defeating bad guys. It will no longer stand for government issued, as in issued by the American government.

It's being cast by twenty-somethings that you've never heard of. Hell, the role of Duke is being given to someone under thirty-five. Duke was the 1SG, he'd need to be at least 37 at the youngest, forties would be more accurate.
And excuse me, but why in the wide, wide world of sports is Snake Eyes sporting a sword with a serrated edge? And that shiny? Snake Eyes was bad ass, this is making him look like a puss.

Snake Eyes sword was forged by the master onihashi of the arashikage ninja clan, and he clearly was the Martha Stuart of swordsmiths.
I like that they are updating the name to mean something. G.I.Joe might have originally meant "government issue" in WW2, but the toyline never alluded to that. If anything, they focused on the original guy being named Joe. I've always found the name to be lame. Delta Force sounds so much better and they are the closest thing to G.I.Joe in the real world.
I'm hoping that some of the attention from Sigma Six will boost the sales from the young kids. The only other thing to save this is that it kicks ass like Transformers. By the looks of Snake Eyes' spandex and visor, they are going in the wrong direction. REALISM Hollywood. We want REALISM. Is that too much too ask?
I heard that Marlon Wayans is playing Ripcord. Maybe they're doing a whole retcon and Duke will not be top shirt in the film.
