i'm all for it but one point sticks: how can they be legally defined as a man yet still be in possession of reproductive organs?
i work with a lot of queer folks in the food industry and the topic of being transgendered comes up quite a bit.
i saw a show on cable where a woman (who saw herself as a lesbian)
transgendered to a man and then started dating men although as a woman she never dated men.

Biology doesn't lie
A man can not have a baby. Period. It is physically impossible. To go through all the mental and physical anguish that transgenders got through, only to fall back on the reproductive organs that made you your original gender in the first place is a slight against transgender individuals everywhere. You can not live as a man, have surgical and hormonal treatments to make you into a man, and then become pregnant by virtue of the fact that you still have the "equipment" to do so, and still call yourself a man. The moment a gender dysphoric person conceives, they stop being their new gender. This all, to me, is indicative of a larger psychological problem that Thomas has and needs to address.
That and he is merely seeking his fifteen minutes of fame.

I say none of the above. This person was obviously confused enough to change genders, but not enough to sacrifice the biological implications of being a woman. So, he/she doesn't fit either category, or maybe better put- he/she fits both categories. Mentally and physically, he is a man, but biologically she is a woman.

What about the kid??
If its a boy and they go to his house after school. Will the kid ever know of mom really is? Who is going to answer as mom? Whats going to be said at the local lockerroom after they play and need a shower? Secrets as secret as they were are a lot of times found out, what's going to happen? If its a girl, will there still be that special bond between the transgendered and the daughter or will it develop with the mom with boobs?
Is dad going to be an At Home Dad, will it be here? We'll never know...

I don't think he is a frivolous person or merely seeking fame. Yes he is now part of the great national conversation / culture war / freakshow but at least he is on the side of life.
