FINALLY!!!!!! A resource for us Stay at home Dads! I left my job at Home Depot as an Asset Protection Specialist specifically to stay home with my then three month old son. (That was in November of 2007) When my wife's materity leave ended, we looked at the options: Either she stays home and I get a second job to pay for the health benefits; We both go to work and let someone else raise our firstborn son; or I stay home. The choice was easy. (My boss did NOT understand - but all of my co-workers were very supportive.) My parents were a little skeptical when I told them - they thought at first that I was just too lazy to keep a job. (Funny how they wouldn't think that of any woman who wanted to stay home!) but they have warmed up considerably since then.

The hardest adjustment has been the cleaning (dishes and vacuuming mostly) I have always done the cooking, but cleaning was my wife's speciality. (She loves to clean and has a very set way of cleaning - down to the order that the plates were stacked in the cabinets) We are both adjusting - so far so good.

Looking forward to meeting other dads....

Glad to have you...

Great site, very informative, especially for us new to the scene dads. Join the Hartford CT dads, we are looking to try to put together play dates and trips for the dads and kids and also for the families on weekends. Enjoy the best thing you can be doing.

Welcome

Welcome to a great site. Did the 2 job thing for years and missed out on the first few growing up. The wife had to call when they first walked, spoke, etc. I think you made a great choice.

Welcome!

Welcome to the site and AHDhood. My advice is to not do too much cleaning and have as much fun as you can. Joining a group is invaluable if you have one in your area. It only gets more fun as your child will start to sit up, crawl and babble on endlessly.

Uhm?

Cleaning? What's cleaning? Is that something like the sex and golf that you guys were talking about?

Hey where did my post go?

I'm new at this, so I've got some stuff to learn obviously! How did my post disappear?

Hi,
What a great group of guys. I'm new to this site, too. And, I already feel a connection to other dads outthere...
