Anybody Else Find This Offensive?

Oh, maybe not so offensive as just plain sad. This guy says his son is already a year old, and he still doesn't get it.

I'd Hate to See It

If he ever changed a diaper full of loose poops and got some on him!
What would "they" think?
Image goes a long way when going grocery shopping with baby sputtum that you didn't know about running down your back and all the shopping moms really appreciate your dedication.
Am I way off base Jim? The "do it NOW" I just had to do, just now, well... got done and I lost my train of thought.

Not really

I worry about how I look when it matters how I look, and that's pretty much what this guy is saying.

However, he takes a pretty broad swipe at the way dads at the playground (a.k.a. SAHDs) look. He probably just means that non-SAHDs shouldn't look for style tips from SAHDs, and I think that's probably true. I'm not going to model Armani before going to a playgroup, and if it matters to you that you look Armani-good, then don't ask me for help.

I'm not always at the playground, though, so if he really means that SAHDs always look like shit, and "don't look like them, boys", then he just needs to take a step back. I dress for rolling around in the dirt when I'll be rolling around in the dirt. I dress for getting my ass stared at when I know there will be people staring at my ass.

Stop looking at my ass, guys.

He just doesn't get it

Overall, I found this article more sad than offensive. This guy has some good points - certian fabrics def clean up easier - but overall, he seems to encourage the usual sterotype of fathers - kids are a burden to the man's way of life. BTW, nothing wrong with "Bill Belichick on gameday" at the playground. If I dress like "Bil Belichick on Gameday" when I go for an interview or for a nice dinner with friends - that's another story, but the playground? give me a break...

Not offended

But I don't worry about guys that spend that much brain energy on their own clothes.

And I DO wear Crocs and Tevas and my shirt untucked at the playgrourd or the dinner table. No one in my family has cried about my dad style yet.

He would really hate the way I layer my oxford shirts. But having an extra shirt around has come in quiet useful for dressing post-potty trained kiddos several times.

Uhhhhh

Seriously? This guy just sounds (I think someone else said it first) "burdened..." That really is sad. He must've missed the memo at birth about kids being messy and loud. I'm sure his wife gets TONS of help around the house!

A lot of things.

I think Jpod is right, that it is just plain sad. The guy is very image-conscientous. Probably a lack of self-confidence. The first year as an AHD is one of the best confidence-building experiences in the world. You get over your image so quickly and realize how to truly be happy.

Just another...

...metrosexual (a group of people that I just can't relate to). I, too, found it much more sad than offensive. If anyone worries that much about their clothing, then their opinion of what I wear really means nothing to me. I mean, come on, having to put on a trenchcoat or change your clothes just to get that first awesome hug and kiss from your little one when you get home!?!? Utter nonsense. To me, this guy definitely has his priorities out of whack.
