agree with Greg on this. It's got a very magazine feel to it. Advice columns and such have a market, but not for me.

Is the site for dads who are savvy? What if we are not so savvy? Or, is it for dads that are not savvy and would like to become more savvy? How savvy do you really need to be? If you are not an AHD, I don't think you have to be very savvy at all.
I say savvy is as savvy does. What good is it to be so savvy, if you can't, or don't, put it into practice?
Finally, is it better to be savvy or lucky? I can be shrewd and knowledgable, but poop on my knuckles is poop on my knuckles.

Damn.
thought we were all on the wagon this week. :}

It's got a very magazine feel to it.
From the homepage of savvydaddy.com:
"Welcome to savvy daddy, the only web magazine/community dedicated to fueling your passion to be a great dad."
It seems like it could be an all right outlet for things, but I am going to stick with this site myself. Also, I have a pet peeve for any website that labels itself as the "only" one dedicated to something. What a load of BS. Maybe in the days of the Mosaic browser, but not these days.

Now, I get it: Savvy is "fueling" our passion to be great dads. So, the more you visit Savvy, the more passionate you will be about wanting to be a great dad.
I think I would prefer a website that helps to satisfy my desire rather than fuels my passion.
So, if you want to be a more savvy daddy, savvydaddy.com will make you want it more strongly. And, I don't think your current level of savviness matters.
Ps. Brian, is this site yours? I apologize in advance if it is.
hey guys, thanks for all the comments. I'm the founder of savvydaddy - glad you guys checked it out. I've got a lot to learn from ya'll about websites & being a dad. I put up savvydaddy.com to do my part to add to the conversations already going on.
randy - i'm caught. I tried splitting hairs. no excuses
jphillip - totally agree- savvy is a verb, not a pie in the sky

No, I'm pretty sure it's an adjective. But, I do like pie. Now, there is a nice idea for a website.
Oh, darn it! Someone beat us to it. http://www.pie.com

the only web magazine/community dedicated to fueling your passion to be a great dad
I can name a half dozen other websites of the top of my head that do the same thing.

Actually you are both right.
Depends on how you are using the word.
As a verb (-vies, -vied) [with clause] know or understand: JPhilip would savvy what to do about such a pie [intrans.] I've been told, but I want to be sure. Savvy?
As an adjecive (-vier, -viest) shrewd and knowledgeable understanding in the realities of life.
But, no sense in making anyone wrong about it!

I savvy.
So, since it's SavvyDaddy.com, is it an imperative, telling daddies to savvy? Or, is it a question, asking daddies if they savvy? I guess if we are going to make it a verb, then it must be an imperative, because it is a .com, and not a ?com.
Alternatively, it's just an adjective that modifies daddy. If this is the case, then it brings me full circle back to my question of whether the site is for savvy daddies or daddies that desire to be more savvy. And, that is where Randy came in with his quote of SavvyDaddy.com's official description of fueling passion.
Honestly, I don't know if I want to be more passionate about being a daddy. It's already way out of control.
okay, I'm still working on the not-so-official objective... maybe it should be fueling our savviness to be a great dad? jphillip - your last line says it all, I may have to quote you. whatever the case, I think you guys outsavvied me on this one (note verb usage).
like i mentioned earlier, I've already changed the description. I'm not the "only" anything, except maybe the only non-stay-at-home-dad writing here? savvily said (adverb use)
which brings us to the question at hand: who is a savvy daddy? I don't know and it really doesn't matter to me, but I do know tons of dads who (whether they're already savvy or not) want to be savvier. (yup, noun use)
Tony

That last one's another adverb.
You'd have to be "a savvy" for it to be a noun.

Great to see another Dad's site on the net, nice work, will have to check out more as time permits. Nice to see you in this forum as well. In this case I do believe savvy works both ways, or my brain is just overly scrambled after readying through this page coupled with everything else as full-time parent/PT business owner. To me, full-time dad or parent works better than SAHD or AHD, more accurate and much better connotations (but who's counting), hey keep it in mind. Of course, all non-slacker dad's are FT dad's when you think about it. Hmm, maybe all this could be grappled with in an article or other topic .

Hey Brian,
Can savvy be used as an adverb?
Hey Tony,
If you quote me, make sure you credit it to "JPhillip." Your readers should savvy where the quote originated. And, you should savvy that you may also need to send me some money or a savvydaddy?com t-shirt.
Also to Tony,
Thanks for caring about dads. Just look at this thread as an unpleasant trip to Trump's boardroom. It's not that we don't like you or think that you have a bad idea. We just want you to get it right. That being said, Tony...You're fired! Savvy?
I stand corrected. that must've been the enginerd in me coming back again. confession: just googled "adjective versus adverb"
jphillip - what would happen if all that passion went unleashed? I think magnasavvydaddy.com, suprasavvydaddy, or hypersavvydaddy are all still available. ;)
on one hand, it's no fun hearing the criticism about savvy daddy - something I've spent 6 months of 8PM-10:30PM on it. But I'm definitely taking it in; it's great feedback and I do wanna get it right. on the other hand, I just think it's awesome that we're debating grammar and that you guys are so dedicated to your kids. and fortunately, all this conversation hasn't ruined the word savvy for me... yet.
savvy on...

Were you guys always so nice to the new kid in school?
I think it's great that Tony has taken a stand for all dads and put this website together.
One of my passions in life is parenting. If savvydaddy offers me any ideas, sparks my imagination, moves or inspires me, then yes, it does fulfill on the notion that it "fuels my passion".
Good luck Tony! I'll be seeing you around!
Brian

Tony -
I know this is getting really picky, but maybe you could say
"Welcome to savvydaddy, a web magazine/community dedicated to fueling your passion to be a great dad."
instead of
"Welcome to savvydaddy, the web magazine/community dedicated to fueling your passion to be a great dad."
If I happen to place stress on the "the", then the description still sounds very pompous. I think switching it to "a" makes it sound like you are really striving to become part of the larger community of information that supports fatherhood.
As a former professional web developer specializing in web usability, I also have a couple of bits of advice on some aspects of the homepage: (1) the search box should be incorporated into the header of the page instead of buried below the first big block of content, since search is a critical function of any website; (2) the search box should be very noticeable and not blend into the other page elements so discretely (ties in with number 1); (3) make the "Featured Conversations" more featured instead of buried way down the page if you plan on driving traffic to the forums.

Sometimes it's good for "tech savvy" and/or "business savvy" guys to get a reality check. Our torture will only make him more careful about what he "says" on the site and therefore his site will be much better and maybe more successful in the end. Plus, didn't you see where I made nice at the end?

i get it? cause i don't!
I'm savvy enough to know when my daughter goes behind the couch "shes gonna poop"
