Hey! About the title - I have been an at-home dad to boy girl twins (Giovanna and Roman) for 18 months now, so relatively new. About a year ago, apparently, I joined AHD.org, only I totally forgot (too many sleepless nights, I think) and only recently rediscovered the site, wherein I started a new account, only to find I already had one existing. So, there you go.
A little about us - I am a 30 year old At-Home Dad to 18 month old toddlers, and a chef on the side. (I cater weddings) I also founded R.A.P.P.O.R.T., a liberal parenting community, based in Olympia Washington with a new chapter opening in Portland in May.
My wife and love of my life Brieshon, is the chief financial officer of our household. She just recently received a job offer from the State of Oregon, which was too good to pass up, and so we are moving to Portland the beginning of May. Previously she was the executive assistant to the director of a non-profit health organization.
Our twins, Giovanna and Roman, are AWESOME! They were born at 30 weeks, or 10 weeks early, day before Halloween. They were 3 lbs 2 oz apiece. Giovanna was the pusher. She was ready to come out. Roman was the reserved one. It took them almost half an hour just to break his sac (with something that looked amazingly like a crochet needle). In fact, the doctor had time to go deliver another baby before coming back and delivering Roman. There were some respiration problems, and he was in the NICU for 9 weeks. Giovanna was in for six weeks, with the bili lights.
That aside, they are, as I may have mentioned before, AWESOME. Givanna is the doer, the spontaneous one, the adventurer, the climber, the troublemaker. So far. Roman is the one that contemplates, the thinker, the observer, the emotional one, the sensitive one. So far.
So that's us in a nutshell. Yes, yes - it's cramped with four people in here, but we call it home.
P.S. - we could probably add another "old" to the title, because awhile back, I had custody of my drug addict sisters children for two years, and then for six months awhile later. So, I was a dad then. I think.
