For a moment I thought I was going to have to check the kids button. Then I remembered I just had a birthday in July. Whew.... I'm an adult. Okay so the whole birthday thing doesn't make me feel any older. There are days that I'm amazed that me, of all people, is a dad. I somehow have this sterotype that in order to be a dad you have to be between the ages of 30 and 45. I think its because that's how old I remember my dad.
Follow up questions - how old were you when your first child was born? and how old were you when you became a SAHD? As one of the younger guys - I'm kinda curious....
As for your follow-ups- I guess I did everything when I was a little older than usual. Married at 30. First kid at 33. Next two at 36. Nursing home coming my way probably in a couple of years.
I'm 43, and was 37 when my son was born, 42 when my daughter was born. My wife and I have been together for nearly 20 years (married for 11) and obviously were in no hurry to have kids, although we always knew we wanted them. I wish I'd started a few years earlier, as I'll be 60 when my daughter graduates from high school! As long as I eat right, exercise and take Geritol I'll be OK, right?
I don't feel too bad, though, because my brother is 46 and will be nearly 47 when his second child arrives in September. He was 42 when his first was born.
He has a whole 15 minutes on me :-), Thirty-sixers have the old/young option as well, but I just graduated into the "older thirty" bracket. My grandmother, on the day that she turned 40, spent the entire day sitting in her bedroom crying. Getting older seems like it beats the alternative.
Okay, I'll agree with that 'only as old as you feel' thought. I would feel a bit younger if I could get out and work up a sweat once in a while. Warm weather seems to be here though, so I'm going to get started again. I'm 41, by the way. Although, probably about 14 mentally.
I'm not suprised. I'm also the oldest on the block with the most kids. My brothers and sisters are grandparents and most of my nieces and nephews are in the 18 to 36 range. Thats what I get for marrying later in life. These girls and boy are keeping me feel young. Thanks for letting me feel lonely at the bottom:-)
I'm 33. Interestingly, most of my mom friends are still twenty-somethings. From what I can tell. I mean, I don't go around asking women what their ages are. That's a good way to make sure you're never invited back to a group.
I'm 42 but don't feel it...most of the time feel like I'm in my 30's (although sometimes the kids make me feel like I'm in my 50's too). We had our first when I was 32, the second when i was 35, and the final when I was 39. Hopefully we are done now,
you gave me two options for 40

I turn 27 in Nov. My son was born when I was 25. prolly have another one in two or three or four or maybe no more years :) it depends on the wife.

Married at 27 (Ten year anniversary this year), daughter born at 31.
No more kids unless one slips past the goalie...(seems appropriate with all the hockey talk on this board)
Just turned 40...
but still don't believe it. I don't feel 40, but then what does 40 feel like?
