Yes. Yes I do.

It's not really free when you have to buy something to get it. And aside from the occasional "crackhead needs his fix" Big Mac attack, I'd rather eat the ass off of a dead rhinoceros that eat anything from the golden arches.

You want a real southern style chicken sandwich? Go to Chick-fil-A, they created the damn thing anyway. Mass marketed it really, sandwiches/biscuits like that have existed in this neck of the woods forever.

Try 3 bucks

Still, their McChicken on their dollar menu was better. I am one of those idiots who gets sucked in by the pretty pictures on the billboard every now and then. I wanted to try it and I did. Guess what: tastes like chicken.

And the one-dollar McChicken had a piece of lettuce on it (woo-hoo!) which the expensive Southern Style only had a scrimpy little pickle. I guess a pickle makes it southern.

To continue... I also tried that breakfast chicken biscuit thing. Guess what, DIDN'T taste like chicken. Tasted like fish. I called the manager to ask about this, and she said "Yeah, they all do. I don't think we're going to sell too many of these things." .... to prove the point, they are giving them away for "free" tomorrow.

Anyway, Chik-Fil-A rocks for fast food. I mourn the fact that they don't have them here in town. Other than KFC, though, Josh, I can't think of an above-average fast food chicken sandwich.

As for the dead rhino ass, is that better grilled or broiled?

I had one of the chicken breakfast biscuit things a week or so ago.

not impressed.

And, my wife pointed out that the mcgriddle cake parts got a lot smaller for the same price.

As to the rhino...

I'm Southern by birth and Scottish by decent, we fry everything.

Chick-fil-A butters their buns and adds the pickle. No mayo. No lettuce. Straight forward and simple.

I tried one of those "southern style chicken biscuits" when they first came out. To me, it tasted like they added pickle juice and brined the chicken in it. Horrid. guess they tried those "southern" things here in the south before unleashing it on the rest of the country. Our apologies and condolences.

My advice, make your own and skip the arches.

Don't Forget . . .

Biscuitville or Bojangles for a real breakfast chicken biscuit. Chick-Fil-A is fantastic as well. Honestly, I never have been able to get into chicken for breakfast. Bacon, eggs, sausage -- all preferred. Heck, I only drink coffee for breakfast anyway, but when I splurge the ultimate bacon biscuit at Biscuitville is where it's at.

FIRST!

Tried the chicken biscuit first thing this morning. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. The chicken was meatier and less greasy than chick-fil-a, which I think is over-rated. I found it extremely satisfying. Delicious!

To make up for any negative reactions...

I bring you Dunkin' Donuts Free Iced Coffee (really, free, no purchase necessary) from 10am - 10pm local.

Does Chik-Fil-A make better coffee? (j/k)

No contest

We'll stick with Krispy Kreme since every Dunkin' Donuts has failed.

Wow...

funny you mention that since the reverse is true up here. It's like the South is a whole different country, Chik-Fil-A, Krispy Kreme, the Confederacy...

Uncalled for

As someone who's lived in the North, South, East Coast, West Coast, and everywhere in between, I find the observation that the South is a whole different country offensive. I've lived in ten different states and three different countries and you know what? People are the same everywhere. If you go looking for a stereotype, you're going to find it.

And I always crave Chick-fil-A the most on Sundays.

Eating McDs right now...

...and I must say that it is better than Chic-fil-As. The piece of meat is bigger, it is juicier and it is less expensive. I do not normally go to McDonalds, but when I get a fried chicken sammy craving, I am headed to the Golden Arches and not Chic-fil-A.

I succumbed.

The girl fell asleep in her carseat so the boy and I had McDs for lunch. The Chicken sandwich was fine.
Oscar had a Cheeseburger, Apple and Milk, they were out of dead Rhino arse.
Thanks for the tip Josh. Can you get me free Chipotle too?

Utterly Average

I like Chic-fil-a (they have a kids night here on tuesdays where you get two kids meals with the purchase of an adult meal, how can you beat that) plus the owner is has always been very nice when we have gone there, but free eats is free eats, I would agree that the portion of meat is bigger but the breading I thought was a little lackluster. Overall I would not rate it Rhino-ish, but I wouldn't pay for it either.

i never knew how to pronounce

I never knew how to pronounce Chic-fil-a until I was in Austin, TX, for a convention several years ago. I'd seen the signs there, and I thought, "What kind of name is Chick-fill-uh for a restaurant." A smarter co-worker hipped me to the proper pronunciation. Haven't eaten at one. Don't do fast-food that much, and when I do it's Mickey D's usually.

I went to

the grocery store and bought 6 free range chicken breasts for $5.89 and cut them all in half for a total of 12 fillets. Total $2.94 per breast. Then I coated them in egg and bread crumb and made some cutlets call it $3 bucks. Now I have a lot of chicken to eat for the rest of the week. Better than Chick and better than McD's and has nothing to do with geographical location.

And Dunkin donuts has the worst coffee, donuts and bagels.

Thanks

I made it to dunkin and mcdonalds........thanks for the heads up. Josh, where do you get all your information on the free stuff? I've enjoyed a taco, ice cream, coffee, and chicken all thanks to you.

All of new england disagrees with you, Jim. I lived in boston for three years and you can't walk two/three blocks without seeing a Dunkin donuts. Lines out the door in the morning. Can't say the donuts are the best but the coffee is not bad.

Well...

I wouldn't necessarily give away my sources to just anyone, but for the SAHDs...

Slickdeals.net. Go to the Freebies section.

Here's my favorite new one:

Free Onion Rings on Father's Day . If you don't like Friday's - don't go there. No need for hatin'.

my wife swears by dunkin'

my wife swears by dunkin's coffee, says it's the best going. We had Krispy Kreme around Bostono for a heartbeat, but I think they've all converted to IHOPs or something.

I don't do coffee. I'm thinking of starting a club for non-coffee achievers.

I love Miky D's ...But not for the food

I love them for their consistency in their products.
A hamburger only changes from region to region with the addition of 1. dices onions 2. mustard on it ...that is it
a burger also changes from country to country...ie they use different meat and buns....
an average McD's make anywhere from 3 - 9 % profit each year. Some have even been heard to make 18% (wow)
I studied them in the early 90's for a culinary school project....

If you want to talk profitability, you have to look at In-and-Out. However you have to be on the West Coast for that. They actually have a huge operation with no debt. They only build a new store when they have the cash to do it and every store has huge lines at all times.

What we could not believe is their store managers make over 100K a year.

Are you Serious?

Who cares if McDonalds is giving away a sandwich with the purchase of a drink? Doesn't matter if it tastes good or tastes bad. If you want to try it is a cheap way to try it, if you don't want to try it then just forget about it.

Afterall, it is just simple marketing.

A question with no insult intended:

What were you trying to say?

Don't post free stuff? Or don't debate the free stuff when posted?

Complete curiosity intended.

I cared because I don't have that much money to spare, and it was a good sandwich. I did not care that it was a marketing technique.

They are all privately owned. They have grown fairly slowly despite their huge popularity. They are actually one of the original drive thru resturants.

Their menu is Hamburgers and fries and drinks. Nothing else.

Oops, Sorry Guys

I just reread my comment and it sounds quite hostile, but that wasn't the intent. I was in midtype when my little one started to cry on the baby monitor. So I shortened it, and my haste created the incomplete entry.

I was actually just finding humor that anyone would "hate" McDonalds over a free offering. I love when people blog Free offerings. I took advantage of the free Starbucks offering after I heard about it here.

Sorry about that.
