Hello out there. I am new to this site. My wife and I are expecting our first child in Oct. I will be staying at home a lot as the primary care giver. I work for the Fire Department in the City of Greensboro. My wife is going to work and her mother will keep our child the days I am on duty. I found this site on the baby center website we have been using. I was hoping to meet and network with some other stay at home dads or dads that are the primary care giver. I have a lot of excitement and anxiety about it and feel this site could be a good resource. This was one of two groups I found in NC, so I just wanted to say hello.

Welcome!
Welcome, from a newbie (in both senses), KP!
My wife and I went to Duke, and my runner-up job offer was a faculty post at Guilford.. but we wound up on the far side of the continent. :P
My parents and my mother-in-law are helping out with baby care on the days I have to work this summer. Generally, it's been working out well for me, but I get the most asinine comments from people about not really being a stay-at-home dad. (Oh, you sometimes work as much as two days per week? I guess you're wife is really taking care of the kid, then. -or- Well, being a mother is a 24/7 job. I guess it's nice that you can take time off from being a father.)
My plan is to largely ignore such comments and blow off any steam they produce by kvetching here. Judging by this post: success! ;)
Cheers,
Steve

P.S. Congrats on the baby!
Oops.. I guess maybe the baby is bigger on your mind than the welcome to the site ;)
Cheers,

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome.
Welcome!
Congratulations on the latest addition to your family!
We're in Winston-Salem, with our five-year-old son (our first & only, so far, although we're working on adopting a second child in the - hopefully! - near future);
It's been challening to find other SAHDs in the area, but I know they're out there - we're elusive creatures, but we can be successfully hunted...
If you guys ever need a hand, or want to grab a cup of coffee, just holler!
