Hey all - I'm a late blooming SAHD, been doing it for three years, took over when the kids were 10 and 13. I spent 20 years in the corporate career thing before doing this. So, actually I kind of tell folks it was a real early retirement / stay at home dad decision. I have gone through many of the same things I see other posters have i.e. extended family wierdness, funny reactions, great reactions, a year of adjusting my ego to the new role, the joy of having real freedom and best of all a much deeper connection to and relationship with my kids that would have would have never happened without becoming a SAHD.

Look forward to getting to being part of the group

welcome

Welcome, GuitarDad!

It's a great community you've joined. Do you play in a band?

Thanks for the wlcome.I

Thanks for the wlcome.

I play guitar almost weekly at my church, and we are a rocking group so have the opportunity to let it loose and really play. This has been another huge benefit of SAHDness, I have been able to put alot of time and energy into developing my long time passion of the Guitar and have a great outlet playing weekly, all of which wouldn't have happend if I remained in my prior career track.

the opposite for me

I actually play guitar less since I've had kids. Not that I ever played that much (band in college) or was very good. I get together with my old bandmates a few times a year to jam, which is always fun.

I like the guitar picture you've got. Are those yours?
