I am planning on getting a vasectomy - first appointment with the urologist is tomorrow - but now that I am researching it I am starting to get cold feet over reports of severe and ongoing post vasectomy pain, granulomas and pressure.
Many of you have written candidly about having a vasectomy, but after the initial recovery period how much discomfort or other side effects have you experienced? Any resources you can point me to would be appreciated as well.

played golf 2 days later
well my vasectomy went well on a Friday, and on Sunday morning i played golf. there was never any pain or problems since. my only suggestion is to ask ALOT of people in your area where they had it done and if they had any problems. Some problems are caused by existing reasons in a particular individual. heck, i even got a milkshake after my surgery. good luck and feel free to ask me any questions you might have.
Went well here too
Had mine on a Friday as well. If I was a golfer I would've played on Sunday too!
I think most urologist do the procedure on Fridays so guys can be back at work on Monday. That's how pain-free it usually is- that you can go back to your routine by Monday.
I think I'm the exception
I've written a fair amount here about my post-vasectomy issues. Almost 8 weeks out and I still have discomfort. I think I'm the exception. I had hernias when I was a kid, and suffered a pretty big ab/groin strain three years ago playing baseball, all of which has made me weak in that area.
I've had two return trips to the urologist, the latest last week. He gave me high-test Motrin, which seems to be helping a bit, and told me to go ahead and try some light running and see how my body responds. I haven't done that, but will in the next few days (it's been super hot and humid here in Mass.).
If things don't feel better in the next 10 days, I'm scheduled for an ultrasound. I'm hoping I don't have to undergo a reversal or any other procedure. The doc told me I will recover, but that it's going to take longer than I'd hoped. Duh...

3 or 4 days
It took the full weekend after the Friday procedure for me to get back to about 80-90%. Was coaching my daughter's softball practice on Tuesday and back to work (cleaning apartment complexes....lots of stairs) by Wed night. Every now and then I may get some discomfort if I overdo things doing a physical activity. But, goddam it, I'm getting old!
