Well, since I'm a cheapskate, I thought I'd start up the discussion on ride sharing to the hotel from the airport. Individually it is $13, but for a van of up to 7 booked in advanced it is only $50 total or as little as $7 per person - basically 1/2 off! We would need at least 4 guys to make it worthwhile. If you are interested, post your airline and arrival time and if we can get at least 4 guys interested within an hour and a half arrival window, I'll set it up. My info: Southwest, Fri. 11am kchomedad, now in Omaha
Ride Share to Convention Hotel

I get in at 11:03 in the morning.

I forgot to say I get in on Thursday at 11:03.

Any clue what it would be to hire a cab vs. using the shuttle (above says it's $13 so I assume there is a shuttle) or renting a vehicle? I'm all for sharing and keeping the price down.

I get in at 10:25am on Thursday. I'd be willing to wait for a bit to save some cash for the shuttle.

My wife asked me if I had signed up for the 401k yet. I told her I hadn't. She asked me why and I told her I couldn't run that far.

So it's Kirk, Liam, Brian, and David (me) to share a ride? Sounds good to me. How we going to do this? When do you guys go back home? My flight out is on Sunday at 12:05 in the afternoon.

I leave at 11:46 a.m. I usually never had a problem getting a ride to airport when I leave the convention. Lots a people leave around the same time and have plenty of space. As far as when we arrive I thought I heard it is $30 for a cab ride from the airport to the hotel. If that's the case then it should only cost the four of us about $10 a piece and I am guessing cabs are plentiful around the airport. My experience with airport shuttles is they take many groups of people at the same time to different locations so you could be the first one dropped off or the last one. At least with the cab we can get one right away and arrive quickly to our hotel. That's my option. If anyone has a better, cheaper, faster, idea than we can discuss it further.

We could take the Super Shuttle for $14 per person or a cab for about $30. I am game for whatever.

Hey Guys,
Here is my game plan for the convention.
I will arrive at Sacramento on Friday, November 7th at 8:27 am on Jet Blue Flight 262 from Long Beach.
I will rent a car that seats 5 people and wait for Al Watts to arrive at 11:00 a.m Southwest 1553 from Denver.
I have space for three more dads who need a ride to the hotel. First come first serve and I need your arrival flight information. My cell phone number is (949) 331-8119. Email me at hilling@roadrunner.com.
For anyone interested I also planned a lunch trip to the Squeeze Inn between 12:30 to 1:00 pm. The Squeeze Inn is a unique burger joint that has been featured on the Food Network. Website is thesqueezeinn.com. As of today Liam, who I will meet at the hotel, and Al are in and I have space for two more dads. Other dads are welcome to tag along as long as they have a ride.
After lunch we plan to go bar hopping and then hook up with the rest of the clan at the Meet and Greet.
See you at the convention.

OK. I checked the hotel website and it states that it is about $27 for a taxi(15 minute drive) and $14 for the shuttle. I called the hotel directly and the guy told me the shuttle was $12 and our hotel is its first stop. So depending on who is right we are looking at anywhere from a $12-18 shuttle ride each and a $27+ cab ride. If we opt for the shuttle then obviously we do not have to wait around for anyone because I take it they have them going throughout the day and it is a flat fee for each passenger anyway. Since a few of us will be arriving in or around an hour of the same time we can try and meet up and hope everybodys flight arrives on time and split a cab. I am up for whatever you guys think. If someone thinks it will be just as cheap to rent a car and split it than that's fine with me also.

Or, I can come to the airport and pick up 3 or 4 of you in my truck since I have to be up that way anyway.
Let's look at the times again and we can pick a central time and location to save you guys the $$$
Liam, David K, Brian C, and Kirk (nice to meet you Kirk), all get in between 10:30 and 12:30. If you all are willing to wait somewhere (airport bar, terminal B), I can meet you all there and only charge you $2.00 ea (mainly for parking). And we can leave as soon as Brian C gets in at 12:30. If I have to make a second trip to the airport for any other close in straglers, fine, I'll volunteer Andy for a second trip back to pick up somebody(s).
As for Friday, We can work on that too.

Sounds good to me Dayv. See you at the bar Liam. Ummmmm...which bar? I'm guessing it's a big airport. Dayv...any suggestions as to where we should meet there at the airport? Is there only one bar in terminal B?
Check out my ramblings on life at http://www.sahdguy.blogspot.com/

There is only one bar in terminal B. I'll be in touch by email to settle meeting plans. I'll make two trips other wise it's going to be 2 1/2 hour in the bar.

If all of you coming out can email me your flight information and phone numbers, I'll reply back with my phone number.
