Front company

In all the movies, the huge dealers and crooks always own or are some high ranking exec in a front company. Sometimes this is a legit business and sometimes its only in place for money laundering. Not sure if this helps you at all, and Im not sure how you would set it up

???

You're kidding, right?

Of course, there's this one guy in Illinois, who could help you, if you gave him all that money...oh wait, he was just arrested and will probably be removed from office.

So I asked a friend in the DEA this question....

and once he stopped laughing, he asked if I was serious that someone really asked this question. I told him I think so and got the following information.

Joe on the corner won't be filing taxes this year or anytime soon. Why would he? He makes all his money in cash and lives a cash and carry lifestyle. He's got enough $$$ around to buy whatever he wants up to $9,999 before he has to file special paperwork with the government explaining where he got his money. Purchases larger than that will be done via a girlfriend or mother or sibling who has a real job. They will be financed usually with a large cash or check for the down. The straw buyer will make the payments from a stash of actual cash given them by Joe on the corner.

One step up from Joe on the corner, not unlike what you are asking, we'll call John on the sly. John has a job. or the appearance of a legit job. He may have a fake job where he gives money to the "employer" to have him on the payroll. Employer gets a payroll deduction and gets paid for it. John gets a "legitimate" paycheck which he gives back in cash to the "employer" with a bonus to keep the front up that hides his real income source. Moneys earned above and beyond his "income" will be used to pay for basic living expenses, all in cash. Groceries, clothes, gas, dining out. All cash. Also weapons purchased at (legit) trade shows or illegal purchases of unregistered weapons to protect the "business" will be paid in cash and at a premium. The leftovers from that will be spread into businesses owned by friends that will then "launder" his profits with their regular profits and return it to him in favors, products, etc. It is doubtful that the bulk of his real income will ever see the inside of a bank.

Top of the food chain international cartel types have multinational shell corporations owned by other shell companies until you can hardly tell who owns them. There will be multiple countries involved in there as well with different rules about incorporation and disclosure. The further away from the source you get, the less you will be able to find out. Their millions will be shipped all over the world before returning squeaky clean. Everybody knows they are guilty, but getting through the layers of multiple governments to find the truth will be all but impossible. They will have paid off so many people, it will be impossible to launch any kind of real investigation without them knowing it's coming and covering any tracks they might have left.

So, now you (sort of) know. Merry Christmas, I think....

That was great...

know when a shell AHD company opens we can all be that much more suspicious...

On an unrelated note, I have opened a new company for AHDs for Christmas. We have no employees, offices, or products but feel free to send me money.

Congratulations on creating your own GOVT JOB Josh!

Better hope Uncle Sam doesn't find out. He's not gonna like you cutting in on his racket.

Actually, the IRC

Actually, the IRC specifically applies to unlawful or illegal sales (e.g. drug transactions), and if you read the legislative history on those sections, you'll see that they were trying to make it a tool of drug enforcement (just as Capone was brought down for tax evasion...not paying taxes on unlawful income).

(IRC = Internal Revenue Code)

Schedule SE - Self Employment tax

I believe all the IRS needs(wants) to know is that you're in sales, and that you're self-employed.

Be sure to save all your methlab receipts. You'll need them if you get audited.

I agree with Geoffsdad

Not Really Income

You realize that a tax refund is not actually income, right? It is money paid to the government, ahead of time, that was in excess of what you actually owed.

By filing, you would end up paying taxes, not getting extra money. Since there is no paper trail of income, no one will look for you and make you pay taxes, unless you end up arrested for selling the drugs, and then you would have other things to worry about..
