Hello everyone! I am a new @ home Dad in NE PA. Just made the switch becuase the cost of commuting to Philly was killing us and my wife makes more money working fulltime than I did anyway.

I have a 10y/o, 4y/o and 11 month old.

It's nice to see that there is a place for Dad's to exchange ideas in dealing with the everyday problems.

Tooling around the site I found reference to a few books for SAHD. Thats pretty good. I would also like to recommend "Dad's own Housekeeping book" by David Bowers. I by no means had trouble cleaning anything, 13 years in the Military you learn a thing or 2, but it has a lot of shortcuts and non-toxic options for cleaning. I found it helpful in up to this transition.

Looking forward to being invloved here.

Like Micheal I resigned on

Like Micheal I resigned on my own terms. I also have the ability to return if I want. To be honest, I am still torn about making the decision; but only when I get time to myself. Being soooo busy with the kids is making it easier in that way.

Also the housework is crazy. My wife was not the best housekeeper and it was nice to have her admit that yesterday (no prodding on my part either). The good thing is that I can get things to where I want them to be in the house. I have made a concious effort to see the time between 8-4 as a regular job. I get up in the morning, shower, shave, and comb my hair, get dressed, sometimes even in a button down shirt. Then I walk to the kitchen and start my job. The nice thing about it though, is if I took this many breaks in the "real" world I'd be fired. The kids love the time with Dad.

Cooking has always been a passion of mine, a stress reliever. My wife really didn't cook. In fact she has learned alot of what she knows from me. Never thought a thing about either, as I learned from my father.

Its only been a few weeks and I am feeling the need to be with other adults. So it is time for me to get involved more in the community. We just moved to the area about 6 months ago, so hopefully that will also help develop some good freindships to boot.
