hello all!  i'm a 10 year sahd, with a 5 and 10 yr old.  my wife is a medical professional who keeps comparatively normal hours (10-12 hr days), takes overnight call occasionally, but also takes out of town and overseas trips several times a year, anywhere from 3-4 days to 2 weeks.  also, it's taken my wife a couple of faculty appointments in a couple of cities to find what we both agree is the perfect job for her, so we have gotten used to being the "new family" in school, or in the neighborhood.  but we now have 3 year old roots in oak park, both kids are in full day school (K and 4th), which has been quite a change in terms of time management (as in i have some now).  i finally feel like i have a handle on this daddying gig now, and very interested to hear about other dads' experiences and points of view.  thanks!

Welcome and join Chicagodads

We're one of the largest groups on here.  You obviously won't need the Thursday playgroup but we meet once a month or so in the city for a DNO. Join us!

BTW, a couple dads from our group recently moved to Oak Park.  Hope to meet you soon!

Welcome!

I'm also an Oak Park dad and the husband of a medical professional.  My girls are 3 and 1, so things are a bit busy (though they both still nap - a lifesaver!).  Hope you can make it to a DNO so we can compare notes.
