Description
These are a good compliment to a fish fry, cheeseburgers or a good steak. Don’t forget a cold Fat Tire or 4 to accompany the meal!
Ingredients
- 2 Good sized yellow Onions sliced in ¼ to ½ inch slices
- 1 c All purpose flour
- 3⁄4 t baking powder
- 1⁄2 t salt
- 1⁄2 t black ground pepper
- 1 egg
- 6 oz Fat Tire Ale (any medium body ale will do but Fat Tire adds a nice flavor)
- 1 Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
Whisk flour, baking soda, ½ tsp. Salt, pepper, egg and beer in a large bowl. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. In a 6 to 8 quart pot, heat two inches of oil to 375 degrees over a medium-high heat. Add onions to the batter mix while turning to coat well. Place a few onion rings at a time in hot oil while being careful not to crowd, and let cook 6 minutes. Transfer cooked onion to a wire rack to drain off any remaining oil for 1 minute before putting on a sheet pan in the oven to keep them warm. Cook remaining onions.
