Hello all, I am a new SAHD living in Hong Kong.  My wife and I are Americans, and we just adopted a little boy from Hong Kong.  He has been with us for almost one month, and just turned 6 months old yesterday.  My wife is an English teacher here, and gets paid enough for me to be able to stay at home and take care of our son, Isaac.  I have to say, as odd as some people think it is for a dad to stay at home with a child in the US, I think it is more odd for people in Hong Kong, a very business oriented culture.  But I thank God for this opportunity, as I am really enjoying it so far.  We have been blessed with a wonderful baby boy, and we couldn't have ever asked for more.  Just wanted to pop by and introduce myself.

Blessings to all,

Aaron

Wow

  Welcome HKMonkey,

What's Honk Kong like? (The most I've ever seen of it has been from Jackie Chan movies.)

Hong Kong

I really love it here.  The people are great.  There is always something to do here, though I have a more limited selection now that I've got a little one to take care of.  I have to say, I'm amazed at the number of amazing people I've met since living here.  Such an international community, I have connections all over the world now.  It's great!

I also like Jackie Chan movies.  I go to a bi-weekly bible study with my wife, and when we go there, we always walk past Jackie Chan's offices.  I have yet to see him, though.  If you like movies, I highly suggest finding and watching the "Infernal Affairs" trilogy.  The first movie is what they used to base the Hollywood film "The Departed" on.  It's a modern Hong Kong classic!

Blessings,

AP

Hi

Yeah, we're from the US.  I grew up in Minnesota, and my wife is from South Dakota.  Talk about a climate change!  The only time I've seen snow since moving here six years ago was when I was in Mongolia, traveling across the Gobi Desert!
