Just got this email from a friend. I know that several of you might be in this school's area, so I thought I'd pass it on. It is just down the street from Holestein Park.
"Pulaski Elementary is the main elementary school in Bucktown with most of the neighborhood falling within its attendance boundaries. While Pulaski has a lot of things going for it, most neighborhood parents choose other options, either private, magnet or the 'burbs. CPS has targeted Pulaski as a potential home for a new accelerated academic program (International Baccalaureate) for Fall of 2010. While they are optimistic about the chances of it happening, they've asked us to help prove there is neighborhood support for it. We've created a website with info about the school and the efforts to bring the IB curriculum; on the website is a survey to gather numbers to present to CPS to show that YES they should bring IB to Pulaski and that YES we will send our kids if they do!
If you're not familiar with IB, it's a very rigorous academic curriculum - some of the top private schools around the world have IB programs, including British School here in Chicago.
Can I please ask you to take 3 minutes to:
1) take the survey at: www.pulaskiib.com
2) forward this note to any parents (or friends you think are likely to start a family) in the neighborhood and ask for them to take the survey as well?
CPS wants to propose the program at the August Board Meeting, which means we need to get as many neighborhood families to state their support/interest as soon as possible!
Also, if you're interested, there will be opportunities to get more involved down the road, so you can let me know or indicate your interest in the survey.
Thanks for your help!
