Hey howdy hey, dad-erinos!

My wife and I just relocated to the Lehigh Valley in PA, from the Seattle, WA area.  She's a high falutin' engineer and was offered a great job here. I've been a freelance web/graphic designer for some time, working from home, and we made the decision that I was going to cut back my contracts and be a full time SAHD. I absolutely love it.

Our son turned 10 months old at the end of July, and he is pretty much the best thing ever.

The main hurdle I'm running into right now -- perhaps amplified since we've just moved across the country -- is that I'm having a terrible time finding any sort of playgroup-type-thing here that will even allow men, nevermind being specifically an at-home dad group. I'm sure both exist, but dang if i can find them so far.  I've contacted a few "mom groups" to see if they allow men, and the one that did respond said I could join, then the leader of that group quit and the new leader recinded the welcome. Ouch.

Anyhow, hi everyone! Smile

Start your own...

With the internet and facebook, its getting easier to start a dads group.  Start a facebook group page, get some free "business cards" from vistaprint.com, and contact the local paper to get a listing in the calendar of the family/life section.  When Mike and I started our group, we just decided to do stuff that we liked and posted it.  Eventually, the dads started coming.  I'm sure you'll find other guys who are in the same boat.  Welcome to this site.  Sometimes the activity fluctuates, but it tends to stay busy.

Yeah, I'm considering

Yeah, I'm considering starting my own group, even if it's a group of one for a while.

Also, check out the local

Also, check out the local groups section here, and feel free to use it to publicize your group (even if it's just one...)
