This morning I took the kids to the zoo for one last time before school starts tomorrow. One of their favorite places is the Cat Complex.
The kids had their faces plastered up to the glass trying to find all the lions (there are 4, 1 male and 3 females) when I noticed a female creeping around some rocks a bit suspiciously. The kids noticed her too and started watching her when she took off like a shot. We all stood there thinking, "Nah... she's not going to ..." WHAM! The lion hurled herself at us and slammed head first into the glass! We were all in such a state of shock, none of us moved. She shook her head, took one last glance at her unavailable meal and casually strolled away. "That really freaked me out," gasped my 7 year old. No Kidding!!!
I think they received quite the first-hand science lesson on the speed and power of lions. And, I'm betting they have the best story tomorrow when the teacher asks, "So, what did you do this summer?" "I almost got eaten by a lion - for real!" Think I'm going to get a couple emails from the teachers tomorrow night...

Last Time...
Last time I went to the Omaha zoo, a monkey was jerking off right in front of the window. Try explaining that to the kids!
