Hi All,

I just joined the AtHomeDad.org website. I have been a SAHD since 2000, after working the first year and 2 months after my daughters were born, we decided it would be best to stay home and be the caretaker.

I have 10.5 year old twins and my youngest is 7, they are all girls. (even the cat is a girl)

I am planning to come to the convention and I'm in the process of filling out the registration form and sending it out. I'm hoping to purchase the plane ticket by this weekend.

Omaha will be fun now that you're coming!

Glad you're going to make it  to Omaha for the convention! I feel your need for a break from the estrogen. I have 3 girls and 1 boy (ages 7 to 1). He plays a lot with barbies and dress up but does like to whack a ball ocassionally at least!

You get the humor right? I'm just sending out a big YO to anyone reading this and I'll be seein ya on the boards..

A picture might help, but yea, I'll admit I'm a little lazy when it comes to the internet. I'll get around to it soon.

Welcome Bob.

Hello and welcome Bob. I just joined the group a couple weeks ago. I'm in Western Washington south of Bellingham. (Sedro Woolley.) I have been taking care of my daughter from day one. She will be four on the 21'st of September. Can't make the convention due to limited funds and time. My only alone time is when I have a doctors appointment. I enjoy sitting in waiting rooms of all places to get my piece of mind. LOL Cool Feel free to ad me as a friend. That goes for all. I'm a wee bit blind so I use a text reader. Moral of the story: (It takes time for me to figure out new web sites.)

Regards, Michael

Scholarship

Michael, and anyone else with limited funds, the Convention does offer a scholarship that is easy to apply for (see http://www.athomedad.org/node/4032 for details and the convention website below). Omaha is a very inexpensive destination and you should be able to find a round-trip flight for only $200-300 if not less. There are also guys looking to share rooms which will lower your costs too.

When I was in the business world, my company paid for training and encouraged me to do even more training at my own expense. Being an at-home dad is also a career choice in which there is always a need to learn how to do your "job" better. Just think of the convention like one of those professional training sessions. You will get a great return on your investment by learning from professionals and other at-home dads.
