I am thinking about opening a dance studio and want to cater the time waiting to the parents. So for example, I want to have a yoga or pilates class while the moms wait for their daughter's ballet class to be finished. I am having trouble coming up with ideas for the dads. Can anyone give me ideas that you would be interested in doing for one hour while waiting for your daughter's dance class to be finished. Martial Arts; kick boxing; video games??? The other room will be a smaller multipurpose room such as one you would see in a gym. It will have hardwood sprung floors and mirrors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
What would you like to do while waiting for your daughter
I suggest considering what you would like to do during that time that your child usually prevents. In my case what comes to mind was my idea for a store that I jokingly told my wife about. She used to drag me to the mall to "Motherhood", I always joked that they should have a place nextdoor that had blacked out windows, pitch black inside and a bunch of air mattresses for men to sleep on, charge by the hour and call the place "Fatherhood".

How bout free wireless Internet access? We had a bounce house studio we belonged to and it was most awesome!

If I had to stay at the studio for the duration of lessons, I'd just want a viewing room so I could watch the class and see how my daughter is doing with her dancing. Our studio doesn't have a way for parents to watch without being a distraction. They mostly just want us to keep out, and I am sure there are good reasons for that, but I wish I could keep tabs a little.
I wouldn't pay extra for a regular activity for me during the class. I might pay for a little brother activity so that I could have that time to myself sometimes.
My daughter is in Karate classes two nights a week. I am responsible for taking her and my son who is two to each class while my wife is in classes. I always feel bad that I don't get the opportunity to really watch her classes because the little one needs constant attention. I keep wishing there was a supervised room just for siblings to play in while we parents get to observe our children learning.
Here in the Cleveland area, I shop at a grocery store called Giant Eagle. They have a dedicated play room for children 3 & older called the eagles nest where parents can sign their children in while shopping. It has games, computers, they do crafts, etc. It is probably the main reason I go to that store. My daughter begs to go in everytime we go shopping, dad gets to shop in peace knowing my child is safe too. The gym at our town's rec center has just started a similar program now as well. They charge two dollars an hour, a small price to pay.
Cater to the little ones to free us parents to actually observe our children in classes.
