Can not believe that Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow handled this mess the way they did.  Teaches our kids a horrible lesson.  For article and youtube click here:

NCAA

I don't know why the NCAA does not get involved with this. They are always punishing teams and players for doing less. If Florida was playing LSU or Alabama this weekend the player probably would not have been suspended at all.

agree

I agree.  this is far worse than a sucker punch that cost Blount most if not all of the season.

Real Sad

Too much emphasis on winning (at any cost) these days and lack of appropriate consequences.

Bad call by Urban Meyer.

Not a good answer by Tebow.  He should have said, "I was appalled at Spikes' behavior.  This is not how we play (or taught to play) football at Florida University.  We play hard not dirty.  No team will work harder at playing a clean game than us the rest of the year!"

If Florida can't beat Vanderbilt (or any other team) without Spikes (one player), then Florida doesn't deserve to be #1.

If I Was The Head Coach

I most definitely would have kicked Spikes off the team without any chance of getting back on the team what so ever.  This is a very sad statement to what sports continues to be and that is very sad.  I had liked Meyer and was glad he was given an opportunity at a larger school however, this sets him back quite a ways in regards to a good coach who supposed to be respectful and teach respect to all of his players.  I have not really been a Tebow fan and his reaction just goes to show how much of a prima dona that he has become.  If he really was a true missionary christian, this should have been appalling and not as it was suggested by David Crays as being, "An Eye For An Eye" type of retribution.  Something needs to be done to change the reality for these so called student athletes and people must stop putting up on pedestals and convincing them that they are above the law or what is supposed to be right and fair play.  It is disgusting in my opinion and it makes me hope that Florida falls flat on their tails once again and do not qualify for the BCS Championship.
