Hi,
I am interested in creating a Chicago SAHD community garden. Is anyone else interested in such a project?

Aaron,
Could you say more about what you had in mind? Hopefully it's an indoor garden...
Also you may want to post this in the Chicago Dads regional group page:

Well, basically I want to find a plot of land in an agreeable location to establish a garden for SAHD's and there families to grow delicious veggies and hang out and let the kids run. This past summer my sons and I worked a plot at Kilbourne Park and it was a lot of fun. My two year old had fun watering and mulching and eating strawberries. We'll likely keep this plot next year but it would be great to expand. There is an awful lot of fallow ground in this city and it is a shame to see going to waste. The Chicago Park District offers a pretty thorough run down* on how to establish a community garden in an existing park. This would be one way to proceed though it would need to be open to anyone who wanted to join, SAHD or not, which is fine by me. Another option would be to find an empty private plot and gain permission to garden on it. The biggest hurdle with this option is Water. Of course, there is always the guerrilla gardener option too. * http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/docs/2aca955f-b757-4308-b1b4-50f90b754085_document.pdf So give it a think & look-see and let me know what you think. If anyone is still interested we should get together an talk about the next step. Aaron

If only I still lived in the City and was raising my twins there, I would definitely be all over this.
