Or maybe it's just me...

Am I the only father who has slowly (ever so slowly) added more than a few pounds since taking up the role of a Stay-at-Home-Dad?

I'd be curious to learn how anyone else has tackled this problem - either sucessfully... or not.

After four years, I don't seem to fit many of my older clothes and I don't think it's because they've shrunk in the wash!

Or maybe it's just me...

Not just you

   Definitely not just you Dowski,

If its not eating food leftover from when your baby/toddler is finished dinner, or just the fact that you're the one who does the shopping. So much of home-life revolves around food/food prep/food purchasing that its almost inevitable that some weight stuff is going to pop up. You just gotta paddle against the current. Not a good or bad thing, really. Just a thing.

I had my weight issues before becoming a homedaddy though. But since then, I've lost well over 100lbs. (Weight Watchers, Exercise, Lifestyle changes, etc.)

Another Thread

Dowski,

There is at least one other (long) thread about this exact conversation.  You should search for it, because it is well worth the read.

starting down the weight loss path

You are not the only one.  I have recently started down that path.  So far I have lost about 30 lbs.

The first thing I did was start keeping a log of everything I ate.  I did that for a couple of weeks just to see what I was eating.  There are some web sites like daily burn that you can use.  Then I tried to fiquire out what a good caloric intake for me would be.  I settled on trying to eat 2000 calories a day.

After that I joined a gym.  I was working out 5 days a week.  Right now I am trying to make sure I go at least 3 days a week.  It usually takes me 2 hours, about an hour for lifting and an hour of cardio.  The gym has a daycare on sight, so the youngest goes with me.  If it was easier to pack him up and go I would still go 5 days a week.

Good luck with whatever you do.
