Some of you may remember me as one of the old-timers who used to haunt these forums when this site was still in it's infancy. I've had to move on now that I'm coordinating the new dads site in Cincinnati. I've also been busy on a new project.
I've been working on a parenting podcast directed toward atheists and skeptics. The first episode of "Podcast Beyond Belief" is finally available for your listening pleasure.
I know that religion is personal. Just to be clear, my podcast and blog are not meant to bash believers, but just to be a voice for parents who want to raise good, moral, and science-positive kids, but who don't necessarily believe in God. If I were christian, I wouldn't want an atheist shoving their podcast in my face, so please ignore this post if the idea bothers you. I don't intend to proselytize my lack of faith, and I don't want our difference of ideas to spoil the conversation.
In addition to the controversial content, there are also some interesting science discussions based on recent items in the news. And, there's a segment called "THE FAQ", where we forward our listeners' best parenting questions to qualified experts and report their up-to-date science-based responses.
The first episode is with Dale McGowan
. I highly recommend his books Parenting Beyond Belief and Raising Freethinkers, if you're inclined toward those interests. More importantly, I recommend Foundation Beyond Belief, a non-profit organization that gives atheists a little nudge toward donating to deserving charities.
Next week will be my interview with Flans from They Might Be Giants - exciting!
