I'm driving on the freeyway.  I see a billboard with photo of a Toyota Sienna Van, next to it in BIG letters is the word DaddyLike.  Wow, a car company advertising a van for dads?  Okay, now we are really looking like wimps.  I guess I'll be driving a Toyota Sienna Van on the highway to hell.

The ad is also on YouTube

Andy is that your brother playing dad in the ad?

It's a good thing

OK, so this ad blows in it's portrayal of dads but I actually see a positive idea in the marketing.  So much advertising for family and children's products is geared specifically to women. I think it's a good change to see major corporations recognizing that fathers contribute and play an active role in family life as well (albeit not in the way portrayed in the ad).  There was an ad for Jiff peanut butter that ended with, "choosey moms, and dads, choose Jiff."  I wrote them saying how I appreciated their including fathers in their advertising and got a reply thanking me for my input (along with coupons, etc.  Too bad I use Skippy).

With all the gender bias in advertising (both ways), whenever I see an opportunity to challenge stereotypes I take it. Just called the marketing department of a national chain today about their advertising.  When companies are made aware that they're ignoring, or even alienating, a growing consumer demographic they're quite receptive to change.

I don't like the ad at all, and do not relate to the portrayal of the 'dad' figure.  Most of all, I don't like how he uses his daughter as a runner/go-fer, rather than enjoying spending time with her.  Not much of a dad in my book, and the ad does not make me want to purchase the product.

I agree I mean a Van?  If

I agree I mean a Van?  If it was like old school with the dual doors and he was like get out get out hurry your going to be late to soccer I would think that cool but I mean why not just a big SUV or truck unless you really have a lot of kids?
