Hey Everyone,
I'm Van, South Carolina-born and living in Sweden. I have a ten-month-old daughter and just started my paternity leave. Here, paternity leave can be up to 320 days for a single parents, or 480 total, split between two parents.
I'm trying to gather some insight for my blog. As American dads, what are your reactions to a system which allows parents to spend such a generous amount of paid-time with their small children without risk of losing their job?
Moreover, what are your thoughts concerning the lack of such a system in the states?
Also, I would like opinions about the importance of being at home with children from a stay-at-home dad perspective.
Here is some background info about Swedish parental leave and also more about international parental leave at Wikipedia.
I appreciate any and all input.
Thanks and regards //Van
