Why do we have pennies? What a waste of time and coinage. No use for them, so we put them in jars and save them for two years, until we get to roll them and lug them the bank.

The reason, I think is Ben Franklin. "A penny saved is a penny earned," makes no sense if there are no pennines. Heck, it costs MORE than 1 cent to make a penny. Now that's a crazy economic policy if I ever heard one.

pennies pt 2

Good answer. Can you imagine, we actually had a coin known as a" half penny." Ha-penney for short. So, i got this box of pennies. Some day I'll get to them. Ciao!

at one time a penny actually

at one time a penny actually had some value, but in today's economy there's very little use for them.  People carry cash less and less and use credit and debit cards for every day purchases more and more. 

Could we do without pennies?  very probably

How could you do without them though? Even though they are annoying and almost worthless. How could we not have pennies? They would have to round bills and everything you buy up in 5 cent increments? Makes you think anyway, lol.

my two cents

I heard recently that the melt value of the metals in a penny was more than 1 cent.  But good thing the government decided to spend the money to redesign them and keep them in circulation.
