What is today's role of stay at home dads? Has your responisblity grown since your spouse has been at work? STRESSFULL....
3 year old and 8 month old!

Keep in mind that I am blessed in that I do not work outside the home. I always laugh a little when I say that:) So I do not have any other responsabilities other than the house and the kids. Also, during the school year the Triplets have been in a day out program from 9:30am - 1:30pm two days a week. It goes to three days a week in the Fall. But I do have Triplets that are almost four. Here is what is under my purview:
- Housework - vacuuming, dishes, dusting, cleaning, repairs, replacing bulbs, putting new toilet paper rolls on the roller, etc...
- Shopping - groceries and household items
- Yardwork - mowing, edging, weeding (the wife does some weeding), spreading mulch, etc...
- Laundry - ALL of it!
- Cooking - The wife does some cooking when we eat a "special meal" together or when we have guests and on the weekends
- Bills - I pay all the bills and keep up with the money
- Misc - I make her coffee in the morning and a thermos of it to take to work. Run miscellaneous errands throughout the week like picking up prescriptions.
My wife buys all the clothes for the kids. I try to get everything done M-F so we just have fun on the weekends. I was a workaholic when I worked so I just look at this like my new job. I have learned that if I keep my expectations VERY low I am frequently surprised when she helps. But I am lucky that she really appreciates what I do and she has no desire to do it. Fine with me! :)
Keep the Faith,
Al
PS - My one hard and fast rule is no drinking till after 6pm local time. Seriously:)
there are similarities....i do all the laundry, pay the bills etc... keep in mind i feel inferior in our marriage. So after 3 years i am seriously looking for a full time job and yet i still dont know how it will work out! 108 degrees today, not liking it. both kids are sleeping now lol i found that having a beer helps relieve stress!!!!!! not until later though
Your not inferior. Find ways to make your life easier. Buy In Bulk. Get Out of the House when it cools down. Change your schedule to accomodate. Find other Stay at Home Dads. Stay in it for the long haul. You've done it so far. Like a train, just keep going. Get it done. It'll get easier over time.
