I don't know why, but this new ABC rip-off of Candid Camera had me grinning from ear to ear. It was just gags and pranks being played on innocent victims. It really made me happy.

I'm also enjoying HBO's Flight of the Conchords, which is about two New Zealand indie rockers. It's completely asinine. The songs are too funny. I haven't seen every episode, but itunes has two available for free as podcast downloads.

Any new shows that people are enjoying?

Do shows on DVD count?

Since I do not have cable and I refuse to watch network television with all of its lengthy commercials in between mostly forgettable shows, I only watch shows that I personally choose that have luckily made it onto DVD.

Recently, I just finished watching the entire two-season run of Carnivale on DVD, and I was blown away. I cannot fathom why HBO ever considered canceling this show before it had run its course. The storyline and mythos of the show were completely enthralling, and the atmosphere of the show was entirely engrossing. If you have never scene this show, you owe it to yourself to check it out, even knowing that the show never had a logical conclusion.

The "new" show that I have just begun watching on DVD is Deadwood. So far, it is very good. I just heard this show was also canceled short by HBO, so I guess I will be able to watch the "entire" run of this show by the end of the year.

Sorry to let you in on the dirty little secret ticktock, but American television has run out of ideas about two decades ago. This show is actually filmed and produced out of Montreal, Canada for canadian television. Yes - Canadians do have a sense of humor, unfortunately American TV executives don't. It is mindlessly entertaining though, beats watching "america's idol has talent for inventing" night after night. I agree with Randy, TV ain't worth it anymore.

ps - If "quality" shows like the Simpsons, Family Guy, and anything on Discovery Channel didn't exist - I'd take the advice from my librarian and "blow up my TV"

HBO shows

If you like Carnivale and Deadwood, I would suggest you get the DVD's of Six Feet Under and The Wire. Six Feet Under was on for 5 seasons i think and The Wire is supposed to have at least one more season left. Probably two of my all time favorites.

Yeah... it's not worth

Yeah... it's not worth paying for, which is why I'm just doing antennae. I also catch up with the Daily Show online. I think Just For Laughs will have to be my guilty pleasure. It just cheers me up, and that is all I can ask from a show these days.

The sketch comedy show The State was just announced as going to DVD. I think I may have to buy it. That was a funny ass show.

Also... LOST is my absolute favorite. I love it.

guilty pleasure

TLC's LA Ink - meoww. Put together women (meaning mind AND body) with Tats-hubba hubba (except the star of the show - Kat, she's an idiot - talented artist though) It's like watching live Vargas women in action.

Discovery Channel Rocks

Once again, quality shows. One show in particular, if past the bland narration is "How It's Made", I wonder how Mike Rowe would spice it up?
