What to do with toddler when wife's away

Have responsibility for my three year old boy while my wife is away (Wed. through Saturday).

Luckily two of those days are full-day day care (Wed and Friday) but I didn't

know if anyone had creative ideas on things to do together Thursday and in

the evenings. Live in western central NJ.

All the best!

Make Your Life Simpler?

Wondering if the At Home Dads have considered making their life simpler by not participating in all the events at school and extracurricular activities that rob the family of time together.  After School events. i.e. Sports,  Scouts, Religious Activities,  PTA/PTO.  Robs the family of time and money.  Which can be better spent in these times towards food on the table, utilities for the home, and towards the family car. All other activities described earlier slowly drains the family resources, and could be better spent on an annual family vacation.

Hair pulling

I'm a stay at home dad of 9 month old twins ( a boy and a girl). My daughter is the dominate one and is constantly takeing toys from my son, climbing on him and pulling his hair. He doesn't retaliate. Any advice on how to curb this behavior or is it a wait it out type thing?

Injury Prevention

Injury Prevention.  Wondering if the dads have done anything on this subject. Being a stay at home dad on a day to day basis takes a toll sometimes on the body.  Wondering if the dads have done anything to try and prevent injuries. Not necessarily interested in their own injuries, just on the prevention side of the issue.

Baby won't take a bottle

My three and a half month old daughter won't take a bottle. My wife is at the office two days a week and those two days are hell. I've tried every type of bottle there is and every type of nipple. I've tried cold milk, warm milk, room temp milk. I've held her facing out, cradling her, in her crib propped up, on the changing table, and in the poppa san. She won't let me put her down and all she does is cry and cry for the 7 hours until my wife gets home. I can't take her to my wife as we only have one car.

Why is my baby doing everything so quickly?

My baby is only 20 days old today, and she seems to be moving along very quickly. We had a nurse tell us the other day that she would not be laughing until about 3 months, but just a few days ago she started making a weird "huuuh" sound constantly, and breathing very quickly...next thing you know, she started laughing today. She stopped the weird sound now that she has had a full day of practice, but isn't this much too young to laugh?

How do I get my boys to keep thier diapers on?

I have two boys 1 & 2 years old (Irish twins). My older one keeps taking off his diaper when he goes down for a nap. It is the first thing he does - then he climbs out of his crib. I have tried everything like putting his diaper on backwards or even using duct tape and the little monster still gets it off and he throws all his blankets out and climbs under his mattress too! And...you know how it goes...monkey see monkey do! His brother is starting to do the same thing and I'm tired of washing blankets and clothes all the time. I can't get through my own laundry. Any advice will help!!!

What do dads do with one year olds?

Ok, so I have know spent the last three months with my one year old and I am going crazy. I am going to make it simple and just ask what sort of activities do you heroes do with your one year olds that is something that is "out of the house fun"? I live in the Bay area and feel like I have all these options but he is walking/running and cant take him to a museum because he will throw a dinosaur across the room or something to that effect. If I put him in the stroller, he wants out because he wants to walk which I want him to do. Gentlemen, any suggestions?

To be or not to be a question for AHDs?

A little background. Not an AHD yet but the wife is a few months along now w/ our first. We're really excited, but expecting alot of work in the years to come as far as parenting goes. She is a school administrator, has smokin' benefits, and is the primary bread winner. I am a construction mngr and not too far behind salary-wise. We are playing w/ our budget to see if we can swing me staying home for awhile w/ the kid.

Peeing in front of your daughters

My daughter is not yet at an age where I can begin potty training, but she loves to explore the world. As a man, I proudly pee standing up any time the chance arrives (hands on hips and everything), but lately my daughter really seems like she wants to know what happens in the the ol' bathroom. She's really not old enough yet where I feel like I can close the door while peeing, but at the same time I don't really think it's appropriate for her to try to get a better view of the process either.

Don't know of a better way to ask this, so here goes:

Almost 4 year old son in serious "no" phase and driving me nuts. Need some advice.

My nearly 4 year old son is heavily in the "no" phase. Every instruction, is met with "no". Simple requests like "put that down" or get down off the chair please" are met with "no". And it's not that is the only word he knows. He thinks it's a game. I have spanked in the past, but only save that for the most serious of punishments.(Intentional injuring of someone or repeated defiance of something that has been timed out 3 or 4 times).

When will my son get over his fascination with my penis?

Hey dads! I thought that I would be the first to jump in here with an anonymous question since the site has so graciously added this functionality.
