<ing><amt><qty>6</qty><unit>oz</unit></amt><item>Fat Tire Ale (any medium body ale will do but Fat Tire adds a nice flavor)</item></ing>

    <directions>Whisk flour, baking soda, ½ tsp. Salt, pepper, egg and beer in a large bowl.  Preheat oven to 200 degrees.  In a 6 to 8 quart pot, heat two inches of oil to 375 degrees over a medium-high heat.  Add onions to the batter mix while turning to coat well.  Place a few onion rings at a time in hot oil while being careful not to crowd, and let cook 6 minutes.  Transfer cooked onion to a wire rack to drain off any remaining oil for 1 minute before putting on a sheet pan in the oven to keep them warm.  Cook remaining onions.</directions>
