Site News

New Forum Categories

Based some the recent suggestions and discussion, I've reorganized the forums a bit. You can see the new categories in the discussions section (http://www.athomedad.org/forum). When you're creating a new post, please put it in the appropriate category. There is a drop-down box that's near the top of the page when you create a new topic - just choose the right category there. Or, visit the discussions page, choose a category there, then create a new topic.

Donations Welcome

Creating and maintaining this site takes a fair amount of time. It also takes money. Thus far, the time has come from my life, and the money has come from my pocket.

Based on recent suggestions, AtHomeDad.org is now accepting donations. If you'd like to help keep the site going, buy me a beer, or otherwise throw some money into the AtHomeDad.org hat, that would be great. Any amount at all would be very much appreciated. Click on the "donate" link above, or go here:

Thanks!

New feature: Anonymous Questions and Answers

Too shy to participate in the discussion forums? Have an issue that you'd like to discuss but don't want to put your name on it? Here's a chance to get some advice anyway. Post your questions in the new Anonymous Q&A section.

Anyone can post an answer. Wise dads...please visit and share your knowledge to help out a fellow dad. (The questions are anonymous, responses are not).

New convention forum

A new discussion forum has been created for discussing anything related to the At-Home Dad convention. Visit the discussions section, or go directly there with this link: http://www.athomedad.org/forums/convention

Use the forum to ask questions, make suggestions, find a ride or room to share, discuss travel deals, and anything else convention-related.

The convention will be held this year on November 3 in Kansas City. Thanks to the guys who organize it. The convention always comes highly recommended by those who attend. If you can, go.

New recipe feature

Chefs, here is your chance to help the cooking-impaired. By popular demand, there's now a recipe section here. Click on the recipes link in the top menu. Please submit some recipes to get things started. Anything goes...no need to limit yourself to mac and cheese recipes.

New live chat feature

A new and improved live chat feature has been added to the site. Click on the "live chat" item in the top menu to access it (you'll need to be logged in to see it). If you'd like to find times when a group of people might be available to chat, post comments here and see what you can organize amongst yourselves. Give it a try if you're interested and we'll see how it goes. If you'd like to organize a regularly scheduled event or something similar, speak up and we'll see what we can do to organize it.

Site updates

As you've probably noticed, I'm making some changes and updates to the site. While this is in progress, some things may not work quite right from time to time. If there are any major problems, feel free to use the "contact" link above to let me know.

Thanks for your understanding, and please continue to use the site while this is going on.

Welcome, Plans, and Help Wanted!

Hi everyone. Thanks for visiting! This site will be the new national at-home dad hub, updating, building upon, and modernizing the much-appreciated work that started at slowlane.com years ago. The plan is to have an up-to-date community website that is structured to be sustainable and updateable over time - we want this to be more than just a forum, yahoo group, or blog site.
