You spent how much? On what?

Here goes...
I'm new here and wondered how others have dealt with the change (no pun intended).

Man Babies

Weird,weird, weird and creepy.

V Day

dbrigham's picture

I mentioned a while ago that I planned to get a vasectomy. Well, tomorrow is V Day! Can't say I'm excited for the procedure or the pain/discomfort afterwards, but I'll be glad to get it done. I'm 43, have two great kids and don't want any more, and am looking forward to consequence-free sex!

I'll probably be posting here a bit more over the weekend, as I'll be laid up.

Man Groomer

Anybody hear of this? Does anybody use it? Does it work?

Stimulation! ;-)

randyfielding's picture

I just got my tax rebate yesterday, and I can't wait to go and Stimulate The Economy™! My wife and I got a whopping $1500. No small chunk of change there! We are going to save the money and use it towards a down payment on our next new vehicle purchase. However, before said vehicle is purchased, my wife has clearly stated to me that she must be pregnant again with child number two. How is that for an ultimatum?

If you received a tax rebate, what are you and your family planning on doing with it?

ALLERGIC REACTION!

So, I noticed my baby daughter breaking out in large bug-bite-sized hives yesterday after I fed her a bottle of soy milk.

Hey want to see my building burning!?

Hello from Maryland

BAKEDMEDIA's picture

Hello All,
I am just signing up and probably way over due but I'll save that for the forum page.
Been a SAHD (plus running a home business) since 2001 with my two girls, 13 and 10 now. My wife (married 14 years) is climbing the corporate ladder and busier than ever. My son (from my first marriage) spent his days in daycare and is 21, he is doing great and in the US Navy.
I look forward to hearing some stories and advice as everyday is a new day, along with new challenges.

Thanks,
Bill

Utah dads wanted

If there are any at-home dads in Utah that would be interested in being interviewed for a fathers day article (by the SLC Deseret News), please let me know and I'll get you in touch with the reporter.

Normally, I avoid posting these sorts of request. But....it's not easy finding at-home dads in Utah. If you're there, perhaps doing the interview would be a good thing for you and AHD's in general.

Let me know. Thanks...

pull-ups

bob the family guy's picture

just wondering if anyone of you have had experience or have tried using the pull-up diaps. my son is starting to get to that age (almost 2) and i was wondering if its worth it, if they work (hold the poo in), or are they just prolonging the potty training process. thoughts anyone?

More on Postpartum Dad Depression

ticktock's picture

Just did an interview with James Paulson an assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School, who did another new study on postnatal depression in fathers. His study shows a slight decrease in word knowledge from children of depressed dads.

I still don't think that there is much relevance in their connection between a child's vocab use and paternal depression, but their studies are going toward a new-father program called Dad Matters. It might be interesting to keep an eye on them in the future.

Bad Day in Bklyn

New No.2's picture

This isn’t as bad as the day that Theodore Roosevelt’s Mom and Wife died but you be the judge.

SO…

Normal hard day with 2.5 year old. No this No that. She is rubbing her abdomen but won’t answer me if she is hurting.

Won’t take nap. Lack of my nap sets off side effects to my SSRI drugs cause me to vomit and get confused. Luckily I set my daughter up with a snack and “Max and Ruby,” she doesn’t see a thing. The way to “fix” SSRI side effects in my brain? Coke a Cola and a candy bar with exercise.

Is anyone else uncomfortable with the fact that the "Sex Toys" thread is listed under "Parenting"? That just feels wrong.

Golf

jmmarich's picture

Does anyone else play golf. I really discovered it NOV 07 when I pretty much needed to find something else to do to keep from losing my mind. Picked up some irons, and started hitting the balls. Got lessons in Feb and although I still suck, its nice to get out there for a few hours and forget about the daily worries.

Husband considering SAHD lifestyle

Hello everyone!

I'm brand new to the forum, and am really interested in getting some advice from all of the SAHDs out there.

First, some background: my wife is a radiologist. Her salary potential absolutely dwarfs mine - she will be making $450-$500K a year once she starts her new job in July of this year. In contrast, I barely break $60K. My job is in downtown Chicago, and hers is going to be about two hours east of the city. We don't have any kids (but have a wonderful dog!) yet, but are trying, and we have talked about adopting if we can't get pregnant naturally.
